NJIT Men Move to 3-0 on the Season
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ –Sophomore Pablo Jimenez scored the only goal of the night in the 87th minute, leading the visiting Highlanders to a 1-0 road victory at Rider Friday night.
NJIT, which remains undefeated in 2018, moves to 3-0 on the young season. The win makes it the second-consecutive season in which the Highlanders have started their campaign 3-0.
"A good win on the road for us, against a very strong team that I am sure will be a contender for the MAAC this year", said head coach Fernando Barboto about the game. "We played very well and scored a gorgeous combination goal."
The Highlanders lone goal came from sophomore Pablo Jimenez in the 87th minute assisted by Rene White and Andrew Nino.
Jimenez, who was selected to the 2018 Preseason ASUN All-Conference Team, notched his first goal of the season.
For Rider (0-1-1-) Elliott Otmani tallied four of his team's nine shots and goal keeper Garret Poter posted one save.
NJIT junior goalie Victor Pujades earned his second shutout of the season, grabbing four saves.
Next the Highlanders host Saint Francis U on September 5 for a 12:30pm start at Kean University East Campus in Hillside, NJ
