Pokes Drop 2-0 Decision at Utah State
The University of Wyoming women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Utah State for its first conference loss Friday afternoon at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field in Logan, Utah.
Wyoming (4-6-1, 2-1-0 MW) created several opportunities with seven total shots and two shots on goal but couldn't find the back of the net. Sophomore defender Sammi Dunda and sophomore midfielder Mandy Meyer each notched one shot on goal.
In the first half Meyer had one shot on goal but it found the keeper's hands. The Aggies responded with two goals at the 41st and 48th minute to go into halftime 2-0. UW came out in the second half with a more energy, pushing hard. But Utah State's defense proved to be the difference. Dunda came firing with one shot on goal at the 73rd minute but couldn't get it past the goalie. The Cowgirls pressed, as just two of their five shots in the second half were on-goal.
