Rajovic Wins MAAC & ECAC Rookie Honors
EDISON, N.J. – Freshman goalkeeper Mark Rajovic was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Wilson Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. The award recognizes Rajovic’s efforts in goal for Marist as they went 1-0-1 without allowing a goal in last week’s matches. In addition, Rajovic was also named as the ECAC Co-Rookie Of The Week on Tuesday.
In the Red Foxes first game of the week Rajovic totaled six saves and the shutout in a 2-0 win against Manhattan. Marist continued with a strong defensive effort against Fairfield over the weekend as Rajovic tallied two saves and another shutout in a double overtime 0-0 draw. Rajovic ended the week with no goals against, eight saves, a win, and two shutouts.
Rajovic is currently in ninth place in the nation with a save percentage of .872 with 34 saves and only five goals against in nine matches. Rajovic has been a key contributor in the Red Foxes fast start this season starting on goal for all but one of the Red Foxes 10 matches.
The Red Foxes return home to take on Iona in conference play on Wednesday, October 8, at Tenney Stadium.
