Razorbacks Drop Match To Wildcats
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 15 Arkansas fell to Kentucky 2-1 Sunday afternoon to close out its home regular season slate at Razorback Field.
Senior Lindsey Mayo scored her eighth goal of the season late in the 33rd minute to equalize the match, but Kentucky senior Zoe Swift was able to head in a cross from freshman Gina Crosetti to upset the Razorbacks and earn the Wildcats (5-8-4, 1-6-3) their first conference win of the season.
With the loss, Arkansas’ 10-match home win streak dating back to October 2015 was snapped as the Razorbacks dropped to 14-4-0 on the season and 7-3-0 in the conference.
More than 1,400 Razorback fans also celebrated the accomplishments and contributions of seniors Cameron Carter, Alexandra Fischer, Claire Kelley, Erika Miller, Katie Moore and Rachel Riggs, who each played their final match in Fayetteville after four years of wearing cardinal and white and representing the University and state of Arkansas.
The Razorbacks will play their final match of the 2016 season on the road as the team travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Thursday, Oct. 27 to face off against LSU at 7 p.m. CT.
Arkansas will then embark on its fourth SEC Tournament under head coach Colby Hale’s tenure from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6 in Orange Beach, Alabama. The Hogs last competed in the SEC Tournament in 2014.
