Rice Owls 'Reign' Friday at Lamar, 2-0
Junior forward Holly Hargreaves scored both Owl goals and senior keeper Amy Czyz posted a complete game shutout to lead the Rice soccer team to a 2-0 road victory at Lamar on a rainy Friday night in Beaumont.
Hargreaves broke a scoreless deadlock with her first goal of the season in the game's 71st minute. She then gave Czyz and the Owl defense a little more breathing room with her second score of the night in the 80th after fielding a pass from teammate Lauren Hughes.
In Rice's last two games, Hargreaves has now tallied two goals and two assists. Czyz meanwhile vaulted into the school's career lead in GK career minutes and tied the Rice keeper record for career shutouts with 19.
The Owls are now 1-1-1 on the season. Rice head coach Nicky Adams talks about the win in a RiceOwls.com video, and looks ahead to Sunday's match at red-hot LSU.
