St. Cloud State Falls to Sioux Falls, 3-2
The St. Cloud State University soccer team (3-7-0, 2-5-0 NSIC) lost a close 3-2 decision against the University of Sioux Falls (1-8-1, 1-6-0 NSIC) on Sunday, Oct. 5 at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn.
The Huskies gained an early 1-0 lead in the contest with Kate Fearing's goal at 4:07. The unassisted marker was Fearing's first of the 2014 season.
USF charged to a 2-1 lead with a pair of goals by Elisa Martinez. Her first goal was charted at 17:23 and then she followed with a goal at 21:14.
Late in the second half, the Huskies got back into the mix with a goal byNaomi Kolhoff at 78:32. Taige Thoreson added the solo assist on the play, which was her second helper of the season. The goal was Kolhoff's first of the 2014 campaign.
USF iced the victory with a goal at 87:53 by Jackie Montes, which made the final 3-2.
Brittany Plombon was the goalie of record for SCSU with two saves, while Jordin Crosby had six saves for the Cougars. On the day, SCSU outshot USF by a 19-10 margin.
The Huskies will return to action in the NSIC with a game at Augustana on Oct. 11. They will complete their road trip weekend with a game at Wayne State on Oct. 12.
