Trine Earns Draw with Albion
ALBION, Mich. – After jumping out to an early two goal lead, the Trine University women’s soccer team played to a 2-2 tie with Albion College. The Thunder’s record now stands at 1-11-3 on the season and 0-9-2 in the conference.
Freshman Kayla Case (Olivet, Mich./Olivet) got the scoring going early for the Thunder as she scored her second goal of the season in the 10th minute. Sophomore Kara Franks (Smithville, Ohio/Smithville) earned the assist on the goal by Case. Just before the half, freshman Madeline Sabo (Grass Lake, Mich./Grass Lake) scored her first collegiate goal in the 41st minute off an assist from former high school teammate, sophomore Miranda Allen (Grass Lake, Mich./Grass Lake).
The Trine lead would get cut into in the 65th minute as Albion scored an unassisted goal. Just eight minutes late the Britons would score the equalizer as the game would go into overtime.
In the first overtime, both sides had two opportunities to score as the Thunder would also have two chances in the second overtime but neither team was able to put home the game-winner.
Freshman goalie Sloan Davis (Olivet, Mich./Olivet) made two saves for the Thunder in net.
Freshman Skyler Reed (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Carroll) led all players with nine shots in the game, including four of which came on goal.
For the day, Trine out-shot the Britons 16-11, including 9-4 on goal.
The Thunder will next be at home on October 17 when they host Kalamazoo at 4:00 p.m.
