The U.S. U20 Men’s National Team rolled to an 8-0 win over Aruba on Wednesday at the U20 CONCACAF Championship. It was a much needed win for the young U.S. side, which only pulled one point for its first two games.
The U.S. waited until the 15th minute for the opening goal, which came after Aruba had a great chance in the 12th minute when a defensive breakdown from the U.S. required a save from goalkeeper Ethan Horvath.
Romain Gall’s opening goal was the start of the flood for the U.S. with Ben Spencer scoring only minutes later. The U.S. raced out to a 6-0 lead after 31 minutes thanks to a hat trick from Gall.
The lopsided result should help the U.S.’s confidence with two more games left in group play. The U.S. sits in third in Group A after three games. Although the big win was expected and required, the U.S.’s play did continue to expose one area of work that needs improvement going forward.
