Only six college conferences remain in contention to play in the fall of 2020.
Normally, the start of the season would begin in the next week or two. Players would be in the middle of preseason preparations.
And teams remain in training; the conferences that have left the possibility of playing still on the table continue to work towards a limited slate of competition in the fall. A decision is expected on Friday, August 21, about the viability of moving fall sports to spring. If that door is left open, then perhaps there is a chance to see soccer in the spring.
There is no chance of fall sports competing for a championship at this point, unless leagues backtrack and elect for an alternative.
