Ava Seelenfreund was given just a little too much space. After cutting onto her left foot just outside the box, a Hofstra defender failed to step, giving the striker enough room to shoot. And she obliged, curling the ball into the top left corner, notching the second of Brown’s three goals in a convincing win over the Pride.
That goal helped moved Brown to 4-0, making it the third undefeated side in the Ivy League through the first four games of the season. But this is no new circumstance for a rejuvenated conference. The Ivy League sent three teams to the NCAA Tournament last season and so far it appears well-equipped to repeat that feat.
The conference’s success wasn’t the only storyline that emerged in week four of the women’s soccer campaign. Elsewhere, a Pac 12 program continued to rise, while an SEC side knocked off its second straight ranked opponent.
