Women's 3 Things: Upsets, Winners, Goals
Perhaps the most captivating moment in college soccer came this week when the ball wasn’t in play. In the fifth minute of Norte Dame’s win over Florida State, with the ball already in the net, Fighting Irish goalkeeper MacKenzie Wood sprinted the length of the pitch to celebrate, joining her teammates in jubilation after Korbina Albert’s opening goal. It was a brief moment of togetherness that pointed towards something bigger for the Irish. They would go on to score three more goals over the ensuing 85 minutes and look every bit a team ready to take the next step. And for a team so fluid on the pitch, those moments, those runs, are special.
But Wood’s sprint wasn’t the only takeaway from Week 10. There were other moments, storylines and stats that defined an interesting period. Here’s a look at 3 of them.
