And then there were eight.

After the conclusion of the second and third round of the Division I women's NCAA tournament, the field has been whittled down from 32 down to the Elite Eight.

It's a field dominated by favorites, who now comprise the top eight teams in the TDS Top 25.

No. 1 UCLA romped past Harvard 7-0 on Friday, but found a much harder road to tread on Sunday, securing a 1-0 win against Pepperdine thanks to a late Sam Mewis tally. That sets up a meeting with No. 5 Virginia, which steam rolled past Rutgers and Kentucky by a combined score line of 10-0.

The biggest upset of the round went to No. 8 South Carolina. The Gamecocks, playing without goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo (injury) and its best defender Taylor Leach (red card), topped North Carolina 1-0 in Chapel Hill in third round action.

Rounding out the Elight Eight along with UCLA, Virginia and South Carolina is Texas A&M, Florida State, Stanford, Penn State and Florida.
