Amy Schlueter '13 scored the game’s only goal in the 68th minute and lifted nationally ranked No. 7 Middlebury College over Hamilton College in a NESCAC game at Middlebury’s Dragone Field on Oct. 6.

Schlueter fired the game-winner into the top right corner from 18 yards out on a free kick. The Panthers enjoyed a 10-4 shot advantage and a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.

Middlebury (8-0-1 overall, 5-0-1 NESCAC) has allowed just one goal all year. Elizabeth Foody '14 needed to make just one save to pick up her seventh shutout of the season.

Liza Gergenti '14 made three stops in each half for a total of six saves for Hamilton (6-2-1, 4-2-1). Rebecca Rees '16 took three of the team's four shots.

The Panthers had a chance to take the lead in the 21st minute, but Gergenti denied Scarlett Kirk '14 from close range. Hamilton’s best opportunity in the first half came in the 37th minute when Alex Rimmer '13 pounded a shot that went just wide off a pass from Hannah Withiam '16.

After a scoreless first half, Kirk took a shot from 10 yards out that hit the crossbar early in the second. Rees attempted to give Hamilton the lead in the 58th minute on her free kick. Foody stopped the shot for her lone save.

The Continentals take a break from conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 10, when they host SUNY Oneonta. Middlebury hits the road for a NESCAC match with Connecticut College on Sunday, Oct. 7.
