HS: State, region rankings, March 5
As one season winds down, another heats up.
For the next five weeks, the Monday and Tuesday rankings release will overlap between the end of the Winter season and start of the Spring.
California and Texas are the only winter-playing states in action, and California will draw to a close this week with the NorCal and SoCal regional championships. The winter favorites held their own with Davis (Calif.), Archbishop Mitty (Calif.) and JSerra (Calif.) girls and San Marcos (Calif.), Santa Barbara (Calif.) and Folsom (Calif.) delivering section titles. All four advance to the regional event, which begins togeter the top place-winners from winter sections and marks one step closer to a true state tournament for California.
This week marks the first of the weekly rankings for the Spring season. The big movers in the month since the preseason rankings were released are Westminster Schools (Ga.) boys jumping to the top of the Georgia state rankings, Clover (S.C.) girls vaulting to No. 1 in South Carolina.
