Tips for soccer players: Summer camp
The college summer camp process can be stressful. With the pressure to perform in front of coaches while playing with new teammates, there is a lot going on for the normal player.
However, certain players do succeed in these elements and end up finding the right fit for their college commitment during these camps. What’s their secret?
TopDrawerSoccer.com asked three players who recently committed to college their advice for plans heading to college summer camps.
“First and foremost, you must display to the coaches that you are at the next level,” Duke commit Brinkman told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “This means through your play, playing at a very fast and intelligent pace, your leading, coaching your teammates as you play, and also through your off-field habits, making sure you are resting and eating right.”
Brinkman attended the Duke summer camp in 2013 and verbally committed to the ACC program shortly afterward.
“It’s not about who can do the most flashy tricks, but rather about showing the coaches you will be an effective asset for their team and university,” he added when asked about advice for first-time campers.
