Wins on the road are never easy to come by, but a trip by Pepperdine to Tennessee led to a pair of victories.

The Waves opened up with a 1-0 win against Lipscomb on Thursday. Then on Sunday, they followed that up with a comfortable 4-1 win over Vanderbilt, a particularly impressive result.

Joelle Andreson was pivotal in both games. She scored the lone tally versus Lipscomb, and then with a goal under two minutes into the game against Vanderbilt, set the tone for four goals without reply on Sunday. Anderson finished the two game stretch with two goals and one assist.

Team of the Week: August 30-September 5

GK Anna Smith, USC – Friday night’s 11-save effort from Smith was a huge part of her team’s 1-0 overtime win against a very good Michigan side. She wasn’t quite as busy in a 5-0 win over Western Michigan on Sunday, but the USC GK came up huge in the first game.

D Bridget Rieken, Washington State – Rieken anchored a pair of shutout wins against San Diego State and Hawaii. In the latter match, she scored a pair of goals in the win.

D Caitlin Cosme, Duke – In a tight matchup against Stanford last Thursday, Cosme scored the winning goal in the 70th minute, providing a fifth straight win to start the season for the Blue Devils.

D Jade Rose, Harvard – The highly-regarded freshman from Canada anchored a pair of wins for the Crimson, a 3-0 win over Boston University and a wild 3-2 defeat of St. John’s. Rose tallied a goal against BU as well.

D Kacey LaBoda, Seattle – With two 1-0 wins, Seattle snagged two home wins last week against Eastern Washington and Portland. La Boda contributed to the pair of shutouts and also assisted one of the goals.

M Joelle Anderson, Pepperdine – The fifth-year standout has been named to the All-WCC team all four years during her time in Malibu and was a third-round draft pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft. That looks set to continue as her team is 5-1 through the first few weeks of the season.

M Frankie Tagliaferri, Rutgers – Tagliaferri continues to make a huge difference in the Rutgers attack, as she had two goals and two assists in wins over Monmouth and La Salle.

M Hannah Waesch, Auburn – The central midfielder wasn’t on the score sheet, but her ability to both break up play and connect her team were huge in wins against UAB and UT Chattanooga. Auburn now has 10 straight wins, dating back to the spring season.

F Alesia Garcia, LSU – Make it four straight wins against quality opponents on the road for LSU. Garcia scored twice in Sunday’s 5-2 win versus Arizona State. She also setup one of the goals in a 2-0 victory against Arizona.

F Mollie Belisle, Georgia – Another SEC side enjoying a strong non-conference run against quality opponents, Belisle scored twice in a massive 3-1 win over Clemson. The grad student also tallied twice in a 5-0 win against Wofford.

F Grace Collins, TCU – Collins scored both goals in last Thursday’s 2-0 win at home against Colorado. She also setup the lone goal in a 1-0 road victory against hot-starting Pitt on Sunday.
