The Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy (SIMA) has officially announced its SIMA Summer Camp Experience during the months of June and July of 2021. Directed by SIMA General Manager and Head Coach Mike Potempa, the SIMA Summer Camp Experience will offer a wide variety of camp options for children ages 3-19 who have the passion and love for the beautiful game on the campus of Montverde Academy. 

“We are extremely excited to announce our summer camp dates and look forward to continuing our overall mission of combining education and sport to help talented youngsters garner future opportunities,” Potempa said.  “Having now produced over 250 student athletes who went on to play at the collegiate level and 54 professional players since we started in 2011, the SIMA Program has established itself as a world class youth development program and we can’t wait to share our knowledge and expertise with talented soccer players around the country and throughout the world this summer.”

The SIMA Soccer Camp Experience dates are as follows:

• SIMA Day Camp – June 5th – June 9th (Boys and Girls ages 3-13)
• SIMA Junior Elite – June 9th – June 14th (Boys Only Residential ages 9-14)
• SIMA Senior Elite College ID – June 16th – 20th (Boys Only Residential ages 15-19)
• The SIMA PRO Experience – July 5th – 11th (Boys Only Residential ages 9-19)
  Commuter option available to all camps

One unique feature to this summer’s camp experience is that the Most Valuable Player in each residential camp will win an all expense paid trip to Spain in the Summer of 2022, to train in a professional environment and feel what it’s like to play in Europe for 10 days.  “As we want each of our kids to dream of one day becoming a college or professional soccer player, the SIMA Program will be investing in this once in a lifetime experience for each of the MVPs voted on by the staff at the end of the week,” Potempa said.  “Spain is one of the most developed nations in the world when it comes to the sport of soccer, and we believe that this experience will only enhance the development and motivation of each camper selected.”

One of the other unique aspects to the SIMA Summer Camp Experience can be found in the SIMA Senior Elite College ID Camp, where 15 NCAA Division I coaches will be present on the campus of Montverde Academy working as staff members to train the participants throughout the week.  “This is an invaluable experience for those who wish to gain exposure and possibly be recruited by elite college programs at the next level,” noted Potempa.  “I feel this to be particularly significant for those seniors and post graduates who have yet to get college exposure due to the COVID19 pandemic and are looking to play at the next level after graduation.”

The SIMA Program is also proud to announce The SIMA PRO Experience in July where participants will learn what it is like to live like a professional athlete for the week.  With virtual visits from former global superstars such as Salif Diao of Liverpool and US International and 2-time World Cup veteran Oguchi Onyewu, this camp promises to be unlike any other in the market today.  “The SIMA Program has unprecedented success when it comes to developing professional players now in MLS, USL, South America, and in Europe and it’s important to educate the youth as to what it takes to be a professional soccer player,” said Potempa.  “Therefore, we will be exposing the campers not only to professional training and competitive matches with a world class coaching staff, but we will also be utilizing our network to teach these talented youngsters exactly what goes into a professional career.” 

The SIMA PRO Experience will be learning from professional talent scouts, SIMA alumni who are currently playing professionally in MLS and in Europe, professional coaches, players’ agents, and club management staff in order to understand what actually goes into the game at the professional level.
