Unsigned Showcases: Top performers in NC

TDS Unsigned Showcases' trip to Raleigh was a successful stop, with several impressive players on display.

Here's a look back at the top girls and boys performers from the event.

Boys

GK Owen Jack, Cape Coral SA (2018)– Jack is a keeper with good hands and great footwork. His ability to hold the ball well was evident in the morning session. His footwork allowed him to cover a lot of ground between the posts in a short amount of time.

GK Grant Stidham, North Carolina FC Youth (2018) – Stidham’s strength was without a doubt his ability to put himself in positions to succeed. He’s a smart player who knows how to cover his goal well, is quick off the jump and leaves his feet well when going after the high and low balls.

D Landon Sloan, Capital Area Railhawks Academy (2020) – Sloan impressed with his ability to read the game. He closed down spaces well and was able to intercept or displace many balls out of the back looking for his mark’s feet. Sloan also stepped up as a leader, and was constantly communicating with his defenders and midfielders helping to organize.

F TJ Paul, Carolina Rapids (2018) – A very accurate passer, Paul’s ability to find his teammates feet was on display in the small sided scrimmage. His composure with the ball at his feet was superb. He rarely gave the ball away or appeared rushed to get rid of it.

M Maxwell Wright, Carolina Raids (2019) – Wright is a player with great speed who really shined during the full field scrimmage. He was constantly up and down the flank running at defenders. With the ball at his feet he is a threat. Wright is a versatile player who has the potential to do well at the next level.

F Jahon Rad, Sporting Kansas City (2019) – Quick player with great composure on the ball. He’s a strong player who commands the middle of the pitch well. His ability to keep the game simple set him apart and will prove to be a great quality at the next level.

F Kaveh Rad, Sporting Kansas City (2019) –  Strong player with a great ability to hold the ball, Rad is a solid target forward who’s constantly finding open spaces to receive the ball. His ability to holding off defenders on his back gives his teammates the time needed to transition from defense to offense. He will be a great addition to any program at the next level.

M Andrew Rossetti, CASL (2019) – A quick player with great pace. He runs at defenders well with the ball at his feet and has a great ability to finish. Rossetti is a player who has the potential to do well at the next level.

D David Mclver, Triangle United (2019) – Good solid defender with a strong tackle. If he went into a tackle a majority of the time he came out with the ball at his feet. He displayed the ability to lead throughout the full field scrimmage. He was communicating, leading and organizing his back line the entire day.

F Vincent Jackson II (2018) – Jackson ran well off the ball. He was constantly making himself available and creating angles for the midfielders and defenders to find him in. With the ball at his feet he’s solid and confident.

F Robert Fugett, Clay County SC (2018) – Runs off defenders well to create free space for himself. He’s a smart player who’s aware of his surroundings and where the defenders are. He’s also a player who possesses a good amount of speed.

F James Beeson, Triangle United (2019) – Beeson is a standout player with the ball at his feet. His decision making was top notch. He knew when to get rid of the ball and when to hold it at his feet. This quality will help him excel at the collegiate level.

Girls

GK Madison Howard, North Carolina Fusion (2020) – Howard is a great young keeper. She communicates very well with her team and has solid positioning. She is able to get on the ground quickly and also leaves her feet well.

GK Katie Pierson, Virginia Development Academy (2020) – Pierson has great hands and holds onto the ball very well on shots. She leaves her feet well and has a good touch on the ball. She will be a player to look out for in the future.

M Bayleigh Humbert, North Carolina FC Youth (2020) – Humbert is a strong forward who strikes the ball very well. She is smart in tight spaces and has strong fundamental skills.

F Camryn Dixon, CASL (2019) – Dixon was the standout player of the day. She moves well and is very strong with the ball at her feet. She is a smart player, finishes well and has great vision. She will make a quality Division I player.

F Meredith Stewart, North Carolina Fusion (2019) – Stewart is a very technical player who has great vision. She moves well off the ball and makes smart runs.

F Lily Suyao, Carolina Rapids (2020) – Suyao is a strong player who establishes herself well. She has very good technique and possesses great vision on the field.

M Faith Thomson, Johnston United SA (2021) – Thomson was the youngest player on the day and will be one to watch out for in the future. Her movement off the ball is strong, she is quick and passes very well.
