Creighton freshman adds talent to MVC
February 8, 2010
Another look at the cream of the crop in men’s college soccer reveals the lucky winners of offseason recruiting.
CREIGHTON(m)
The Missouri Valley just got a little stronger with the arrival of Connor Doyle and Tyler Polak.
A Top 100 Player, Doyle is a valuable member of a great Dallas Texans program. He has great size and physicality at the striker position. He is strong on the ball and can hold it up for combination play with his teammates. A great find for the program.
PROVIDENCE(m)
The Friars face endless competition in the Big East, but believe this: their recruiting class can rival just about anyone’s in the conference.
Johan Hernandez and Philip Ziegler come to mind immediately as instant impact guys. Ziegler, an Oakwood SC forward, is an intelligent player who makes good runs off the ball and strikes with power. Hernandez comes from PDA and could be a wildcard with his speed and difference-making ability.
Other signees include Anthony Baumann, Shane Powell and Dave Scorpio.
DUKE(m)
Oh, those Blue Devils. They recorded some impressive victories last season, but alas, they do play in the ACC.
Well, tell that to Johnathan Aquirre and Sebastien Ibeagha, two of the better prospects heading to Durham, North Carolina. Aquirre is a great PDA prospect who excels with the ball at his feet and Ibeagha who is a spectacular ball winner.
Alex Merrill, Alex Sauciuc, Robert Dolot and Michael Assaraf will be joining as well.
INDIANA(m)
With a new coach and direction, the Hoosiers are ready for some fresh air. Insert Harrison Petts and Blake Wise, and you have just that. The two teammates on the Discover Europe™ Tour last summer will make a positive difference on and off the field.
Other blue-chippers include Jacob Bushue, Ross Friedman, Nikita Kotlov and Matt McKain.
