The TeamRank Top 25 presented by Barca Academy, the comprehensive ranking system for elite club soccer teams nationwide, begins July updates this week with the U16, U17, and U18 boys club soccer teams. We will update our National Top 25 for each age group at least once per month.

Catch a Quarter

The quarterfinal match-ups are set in the U18 age group of the Development Academy. The results from the pool play at the Development Academy playoffs helped shape the TeamRank Top 25 for this month. Orlando City takes over the top spot in the rankings this month. The Florida team is the favorites heading into the final weeks of the season in the Development Academy. 

Colorado Rapids makes the big jump in the rankings this month. Rapids shocked a few teams in the Development Academy playoffs and now faces No. 1 Orlando City in the quarterfinals of the Development Academy playoffs on July 7.

Charging to Nationals 

FC Dallas jumped up in the rankings in the Barca Academy TeamRank Top 25 for the July update. FC Dallas will be competing for the National Championship later this month after winning the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championship. 

Santa Clara Sporting remains the top team in the Barca Academy TeamRank Top 25, but FC Dallas, Baltimore Celtic, and Michigan Jaguars are look like worthy challengers for the top spot in the boys U17 club team rankings.

The Best Eight 

There are only eight teams left in the running for the Development Academy championship in the U16 age group. Following the week of games in Indiana last month, the rankings in the Barca Academy TeamRank Top 25 reflect the results from the playoffs up until this point. 

FC Dallas is the top team with Real Salt Lake, Sporting Kansas City, andVancouver Whitecaps rounding out the top four in the U16 boys age group. Check back with TopDrawerSoccer this month for updates from the Development Academy finals.

Barca Academy TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
