The Boys Development Academy Winter Showcase kicks off on Thursday with the U18/19 age group. The U16/17 starts on Friday. This is the 12th edition of the event. During the past decade, the focus of the event has shifted slightly. The first few installments were a buffet for college coaches to scout the next class of prospect. 

Last year, every Bundesliga club had a scout in attendance for the Development Academy Winter Showcase. There were a couple of dozen U.S.-based agents in attendance as well. The event is shifting toward a professional showcase, but the college coaches still come out in the hundreds and the week ends up being a make-or-break for many players.
