Brown leaves behind Lexington for Mockingbird SC
November 1, 2009
For once, coach Jonathan Browl will benefit from the skill of Emma Brown rather than cringe at the sight of it.
Browl has brought her attack to Mockingbird Valley (Louisville, Kentucky) Soccer Club this season after spending the majority of her career at opposing program Lexington Club. Browl, who watched Brown produce too many goals against his teams, can now rest assured that the standout striker will be producing for his side.
Sarah Killion“She’s a pretty dynamic player; she plays with a lot of personality and flair,” Browl said. “She can score and make all the shots – she’s a natural finisher with good feet and she plays very composed.”
Browl did have the benefit of working with Brown when she was a very young footballer playing with Javanon. Browl explained that even at a young age and small stature, Brown was a future star and that once she figured out how to play bigger than she actually was that she went from "good, to great."
Currently slotted at No. 61 on our 2011 Top 100 Girls Ranking, Brown is narrowing down her college options and has recently made campus visits to Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky, Kentucky and Louisville.
Her recent visits might suggest that Brown is looking to say local where she’s one of many great prospects in the Great Lakes region.
Players like Sarah Killion, Olivia Brannon, Jillian Graff, Arin Gilliland, and Kelsey Smigel, all members of the star-studded 2011 graduating class, highlight the Great Lakes.
Killion, is a UCLA-bound midfielder who has it all – her vision and feel alone suggest that she has a bright future.
Brannon, of Michigan Jaguars FC, is a can’t-miss prospect at either center, or outside back.
Graff is a top-rated forward headed to Florida, while defender Gilliland has committed to Kentucky. Smigel, a natural goal scorer with a good sense of positioning and work rate, has a big list of attractive collegiate suitors.
