The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) announced today that it is launching the “ECNL Shoe Flip Challenge,” a national online movement calling on Americans to grab a ball at home, attempt the challenge, commit to helping others and call on others to do the same.

Through the ECNL Shoe Flip Challenge, anyone with a soccer ball has the ability to help deliver soccer footwear to a child in need, and to share the spirit of community that comes from sport – even when it is suspended. Each participant in the challenge represents a pledge to donate new or gently used soccer footwear through the US Soccer Foundation’s Passback program and ECNL partner Soccer.com

Players of all ages in soccer, athletes in any sport, and determined individuals can take the challenge, engage with each other, and give back to the game.  The ECNL mission to be ‘More Than a League’ celebrates and inspires this spirit

Yael Averbuch-West, from US Women’s National Team and professional player, and Darel Russell, former professional player at English clubs Norwich City, Stoke City and Preston North End are kicking off the challenge and initiating a cascade of players, soccer clubs and companies to do the same.

The Challenge has five easy steps:

  1. Choose to donate your new or gently used footwear.
  2. Record a video of yourself doing the Shoe Flip Challenge .
  3. Post your video on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with the hashtags #ShoeFlipChallenge and #MoreThanALeague.
  4. Donate your gently used footwear by shipping to the address provided below.
  5. Challenge someone else to do the same!

The most innovative, unique and inspiring ECNL Shoe Flip Challenge submissions will be highlighted in Time Square on a jumbotron and celebrated online when the nation returns to action and soccer returns play. All posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram should be tagged #ShoeFlipChallenge and #MoreThanALeague, and should name a person to challenge. All who wish to join are encouraged to have fun creating their best ECNL Shoe Flip Challenge video.
