New No. 1 at U16

FC Dallas is on a 12-0 run since losing to No. 17 Real Salt Lake AZ at the Florida Showcase in December. FCD leading scorer and top 150-ranked class of 2019 standout Jesus Ferreira increased his total to 18 goals during the run. With an overall record of 20-2, FC Dallas takes over the top spot in the Grande Sports TeamRank Top 25.

LA Galaxy remains on top of the Development Academy Southwest Division standings with a record of 21-6-3. The Galaxy climbs three spots to No. 7 after securing wins over Real So Cal, Nomads, Arsenal, and Sacramento Republic and a draw with Strikers.

Solar shines at U17

Like in the U16 age group, a Texas team takes over the top spot in the TeamRank Top 25. Solar Red (Passos) finished the Texas Chamber Classic League on top of the standings and is well on its way to adding a USYS North Texas state championship to its load of hardware. Solar doesn’t need the state championship on its resume this year, however, with bids already secured to the USYS Region III Championships via Region III Premier League play, and USYS Nationals via the National League.

Penn Fusion climbs to No. 6 after finishing the Region I Champions League season on top of the Elite White Division standings. Penn Fusion will face No. 8 Match Fit Academy Black, RICL Elite Blue winner, in the RICL semifinals on Saturday, May 7.

Magic enters top five at U18

Chicago Magic climbs four spots into the top five after securing wins against five Mid-America Division opponents in the month of April. U.S. U20 Men’s National Team member Emmanuel Sabbi scored seven of his 15 season goals in four of those wins during the span.

FC Dallas is back up to No. 8 this month upon taking over the top spot in the Development Academy Frontier Division. FCD went 5-0 in April, conceding just one goal in the process. Furman(m) commit and U19 MNT member Ben Hale earned three shutouts as well as the 3-1 win over Colorado Rush.

Next Thursday: U16, U17, and U18 Girls

Grande Sports TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
