See TeamRank National Championship rankings criteria

The TeamRank National Championship is a unique rankings setup that only includes team performance from the current season. It begins with events in August and ends with final events in July, at which point a new competition begins and the slate is again wiped clean. Each ranking is only for that August to July season.

What makes the U17 Buffalo Soccer Academy Invaders a unique group is that their athletic abilities translate well beyond the soccer field.

“A lot of our girls are multi-sport athletes,” said team manager John Williams. “We have two, and three-sport varsity athletes on the team. This is not a typical group that came from a premier club. This team evolved out of a local travel team, we put them together at U10 and they’ve been playing together since.”

And playing quite well.

Buffalo Soccer Academy is currently the top team in our U17 girls’ New York Region TeamRank ranking. Defending state cup champions, they’re U.S. Youth Soccer National League participants and finished last season with a record of 21-2-3.

Coached by former indoor soccer player and Buffalo Hall of Famer Rudy Pikuzinski, BSA is a contender for a national title.

The group is led by strikers Jenna Raepple and Catherine Williams, two dangerous attackers capable of scoring at any moment. Goalkeeper Christina Sarokon and midfielder Jenna Panepinto are also important pieces on a team that might be unconventional but should never be underestimated.

Elsewhere in this week’s New York girls’ rankings, you’ll currently find first-place U13 Massapequa SC Crush, U14 Farmingdale United, U15 Albertson SC Fury, U16 Albertson SC Elite Fury, and U18 Syosset SC Sting.

On the girls’ side, this week’s leaders include: U13 Garden City Park SC Jr. Dragons, U15 New York SC White, U16 Albertson SC Academy White, U17 Commack SC United and U18 JBS FC Premier.
