The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team took one step closer to qualifying for the World Cup.

After a slow start, the offense clicked into gear, scoring four second half goals on the way to a 5-0 win against Nicaragua.

It was nearly scoreless until the half, before Quinn Sullivan scored the first of his two. Diego Luna was the engineer, as he beat a pair of defenders to the end line, cutting back a cross that Sullivan headed home.

Both Luna and Sullivan were involved in the second goal in the 56th minute. Sullivan was chopped down in the penalty area, and Luna collected the ball and converted from the spot to put his side up 2-0.

Sullivan had his brace nine minutes later, once again finding the dangerous spots in the penalty area. This time, it was Cade Cowell that set it up, cutting back to find Sullivan just inside the six-yard box and the Union midfielder slotted home again.

An own goal in the 72nd minute and Jalen Neal strike five minutes before the final whistle rounded out the scoring. The U.S. faces Costa Rica in the quarterfinals, and the winner will advance to the 2023 U20 World Cup.

U.S. Lineup: Chris Brady; Michael Halliday, Jalen Neal, Marcus Ferkranus, Noah Allen (Mauricio Cuevas); Daniel Edelman, Jack McGlynn (Alejandro Alvarado), Diego Luna (Jackson Hopkins); Quinn Sullivan, Tyler Wolff (Paxten Aaronson), Cade Cowell (Caden Clark)
