UCLA snags six from Boys Top 100

UCLA snags six from Boys Top 100
February 4, 2010

It started out as a logical National Signing Day question: which schools landed the studs from our 2010 Boys Top 100 List?

But what seemed innocent enough ballooned into a massive numbers crunch. Whether you’re a stat geek or just an interested soccer head, we’ve got more data on the following college commits than you’ll ever need (numbers subject to change as commits come in).

elite boys club soccer player and upcoming men's college soccer player trevor hubbardTrevor Hubbard (Solar SC) signs with South Carolina.
49: As in the number of schools represented by the commits on the Boys Top 100 list. From Wright State, to UC San Diego to Iona College(m), these stars managed to spread the wealth throughout the country.

Undecided: The surprise when looking at the findings was discovering how many top players have still yet to commit and are weighing future options. Among them, Miles Byass (unattached), Scott Keogh (PDA), Estanilao Arevalo (Real So Cal) and Robert Barrera (PDA).

UCLA: The Bruins nabbed six blue chippers to lead all schools vying for Top 100 players. Our highest rated player, U.S. national teamer and standout goalkeeper Earl Edwards will be joining UCLA along with Discover Europe™ Tour teammates Kelyn Rowe, Joseph Sofia Jr. and Patrick Matchett.

Other schools who managed to garner more than a few players were Wake Forest (5), Indiana (4) and Akron (4).

No Love?: All they did was win the National championship and yet the Virginia Cavaliers don’t boast one top prospect from our list. Go figure.

Pac-10: Something about the West Coast - The Pac-10 boasts 12 players, considerably more than any other conference. Should make for a competitive 2010.
