RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The No. 20 UC Irvine men’s soccer team (13-5, 6-3) beat UC Riverside 1-0 Wednesday night in Big West Conference play at UCR Soccer Stadium.

Junior Jorge Reyes (Santa Ana/Santa Ana College) stole the ball at midfield and passed it to junior Spencer Thompson inside the box on the left side and Thompson sent it into the net to give UCI the 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute.

Junior keeper Victor Chinchilla (Palmdale/Taft College) had three saves as he earned the shutout for UCI. Keeper Alex Ableson had eight saves in the opening half for the Highlanders and keeper Cody Suppe had one in the second half.

The ‘Eaters return home Saturday to host Cal State Northridge in their regular season finale at 7:00 p.m. at Anteater Stadium.
