UC Irvine women defeat Utah Valley

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women’s soccer team (6-1-1) defeated Utah Valley 2-0 Friday night at the UC Riverside Tournament at UCR Soccer Stadium.
Freshman Mar Rodriguez (Santa Ana/Valley HS) broke the scoreless tie in the 64th minute as she got an assist from junior Alyssa Humphrey (Rancho Santa Margarita/Santa Margarita HS). Freshman Jackie Samis (Rancho Santa Margarita/Trabuco Hills HS) got a pass from junior Milana Shabestari (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) with 1:30 remaining to give UCI a 2-0 lead.
Junior keeper Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) had three saves as she earned the save. Keeper Tasha Bell had seven saves for the Wolverines.
The ‘Eaters will next face Bowling Green Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the UC Riverside Tournament at the UCR Soccer Stadium.
