NOTES: Ronald Mafunzwaini, a junior, scored his team-leading 19th goal that started St. Benedict's Prep to a 4-0 win over Blair Academy in the Prep A final, the Gray Bees' 28th state title in the past 29 seasons. Sophomore Julian Gomes scored twice in the final and junior Azriel Johnson netted the last goal. Mafunzwaini scored three times in a 5-0 state semifinal win over Peddie earlier in the week. The Gray Bees defeated state-ranked teams from six states. St. Benedict's is 149-8-3 in eight seasons under coach Jimmy Wandling. The Gray Bees outscored their opponents 95-8 with Mafunzwaini, Celio Pompeu and North Carolina commit Sebastian Chalbaud combining for 42 goals and 30 assists. St. Benedict's started only five seniors, making them an early preseason favorite in 2018. |

NOTES: Matthew Comiskey scored 30 seconds into the match and the rout was on as Whitefish Bay handled Oregon 6-0 for its third straight state title. Comiskey scored again in the seventh minute, followed by goals from Jimmy Zebel, Mario Carini and Drew Nelson as the Blue Dukes were up 5-0 within 37 minutes. Whitefish Bay has won 31 straight matches, and this year beat perennial national power and FAB 50-ranked Milwaukee Marquette 3-0. Senior goalkeeper Elian Haddock has committed to Yale. Defender Shawn Azcueta and midfielder Jackson Dryden have committed to Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Comiskey was named the state's player of the year by the coaches association. |

The result secured a second straight FAB 50 Top 5 finish for Conestoga, a rarity among public high schools. The Pioneers went 50-1-1 over the past two years and 71-3-3 over the past three years. Donovan ended the season with 56 goals. Keeper Luke Smith recorded his 13th shutout of the season. |

Six-foot-seven keeper Tommy Welch, a junior, was named the MVP of the final by Chicagolandsoccer.com, following a 13-save effort. Naperville North becomes the first repeat large school state champion in Illinois since the Sandburg dynasty of 2001 and 2002. |

McQuaid's victory ended an 11-year large school title drought for Section V, and the result is believed to have made second-year head coach and former Rochester Rhinos player Nino Pilato the first coach to win boys and girls state titles in New York. He guided Greece Odyssey to a title in 2012. |

The team scored in every match until the final and hadn't been held to less than four goals in a playoff outing until the match with Beavercreek. The Shamrocks had regular season wins over Upper St. Clair (Pa.), Dunbar (Ky.) and a 5-2 victory perennial state power St. Ignatius. |

Only three minutes after giving up a game-tying penalty kick, Albuquerque's Seazzu was fouled in the box setting up Gutierrez's winner. |

Wright's regulation goals as the game was 2-2 at halftime. C.M. Wright's only losses were one-goal setbacks to No. 13 Salesianum (Del.) and No. 14 McDonogh. Salesianum scored in the 89th minute to win that encounter. |

Detroit Catholic Central has been a major player in Michigan high school athletics, but a soccer title had eluded the school for 39 years. During that 39-year run, the school has collected 48 team state titles in other sports. |

In the state semifinals, Hough handled former Top 25-ranked and undefeated Providence 4-1 as recent Development Academy player Jackson Raymer had a goal and three assists. Raymer finished the season with 43 goals and 19 assists. A.J. Whisenant added 25 goals and 15 assists. Both players were named Class 4A all-state in North Carolina. |
