FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The boys fall high school season includes the following states: Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia (fall only), West Virginia, Wisconsin.

The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

UCLA commit Celio Pompeu assisted on both goals as St. Benedict's rallied for a 2-1 win over state-ranked Walt Whitman (Md.) last week. Whitman is the No. 1 team in The Washington Post rankings. The Gray Bees also defeated Penn Charter (Pa.) 2-0 last week.

Ty Konrad and Bowling Green commit Colin Iverson each scored twice in Naperville North's 5-0 win over Waubonsie Valley last week.

Andrew Blackwell had a goal and one assist as Sallies jumped out to a 2-0 lead and held on for a 2-1 win over Walter Johnson (Md.). Salesianum's bigger tests await with a trip to Iowa for the Goal 4 The Goal Fall Classic followed by a showdown with No. 1 St. Benedict's (N.J.) a week later.

Bryce Horton's second-half goal allowed St. Ignatius to tie St. Xavier (Ky.) in a clash of Top 5 programs.

Kentucky commit Case Cox scored a minute into the match in what ended up as a 1-1 draw with St. Ignatius (Ohio).

Blue Valley Southwest was idle last week.

Libertyville stayed perfect with wins last week over Stevenson and Benet Academy.

MLK received a forfeit win over first-year program Columbia Prep.

Delbarton kicked off the season with a pair of shutout wins -- beating Mount Olive and Randolph. Matt Pease had the offensice highlight, scoring twice against Mount Olive.
10 (10) McDonogh School Owings Mills, MD 2-0-0
McDonogh shut out St. Paul's and Gilman last week to start the season. This week, the Eagles clash with No. 12 Loyola.

Louisville Trinity Louisville, KY 7-0-0
Kentucky commit Brandon McManus had a goal in each outing as Trinity defeated Louisville Collegiate and Covington Catholic.

Loyola was idle last week. This week, the team faces a virtual who's who of MIAA soccer history -- facing McDonogh, Calvert Hall and Archbishop Curley in a matter of five days.

Noah Madrigal was the offensive standout last week for PND, scoring three goals in the team's win over Totino-Grace, the Class A (smaller school) defending champ in Minnesota. The Irish then edged nationally ranked Marquette 2-1 to complete the two-day mixer. Myles Sophanavong and McKay LaHood scored the goals.

Matt Escobar and Juan Rendon scored the goals as Kearny defeated Union City 2-1 to start the season last week.

Conestoga edged rival West Chester Henderson 2-1 last week in a clash of perennial District 1 frontrunners.

Marquette defeated Chaminade (Mo.) 2-1 on Friday before falling to Peoria Notre Dame (Ill.) by the same score on Saturday.

After falling to Marquette (Wis.) 2-1 last week, the Red Devils edged Totino-Grace (Minn.) 1-0 in a two-day mixer that featured three nationally ranked programs. Three of the four matches ended up as one-goal contests. Mick Hanson scored the lone goal in for Chaminade in the win.

Camden Starzyk had a goal and one assist as CBC edged Gateway Legacy Christian Academy 2-1 last week. Sam Benoist netted the other goal for CBC.

Philip Burckhardt scored the lone goal as Springside Chestnut Hill edged Germantown Friends 1-0 last week.

Jack Gill scored a goal in each match as CBA started the season with wins over former regionally ranked Delran and Peddie School.

St. Francis de Sales rolled off three shutout wins last week, beating Bishop Ready, Marysville and Revere. In the showdown with Revere, Nick Fuchs scored the lone goal in the 1-0 win.

Haverford School Haverford, PA 3-0-0
Haverford makes a jump in the FAB 50 following a 6-0 thrashing of Kiski Prep at the Hill School Tournament. Kiski was projected as a possible preseason Top 10 prep school team this year. The Fords' clash with prep national power South Kent School (Conn.) was canceled due to rainy weather.
23 (23) Wesleyan Christian High Point, NC 9-0-0
Wesleyan Christian continued to roll through its private school schedule, with wins over High Point Central and Charlotte Country Day. However, the team's first real test happens this week in a clash with R.J. Reynolds, a team that lost to defending N.C. champ Cardinal Gibbons and Churchill (Md.) in close matches. The Wesleyan-Reynolds result will help shape where or if Wesleyan is a FAB 50 team.

Brendan Slattery scored the lone goal as Chaminade defeated Hicksville 1-0 last week in a private-public clash of Long Island powers.
25 (25) Cicero Morton Cicero, IL 5-1-1
Morton, which has a loss to No. 2 Naperville North, rolled off three wins last week, capped with a 1-0 decision over Plainfield Central in the opening round of the PepsiCo Showdown.
