The winter high school season includes the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

Kizza Edward scored a pair of goals last week as Montverde defeated Lakeland Christian and University. Standouts Joao Santos and Josh Jackson scored goals, as well, and keeper Matt Douglas saved a penalty kick to preserve a shutout. The Eagles are idle until their season-ending Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament in mid-January.

Corona del Sol continued its dominance of California teams, edging Mater Dei 2-1 last week. The Aztecs are 3-0 this season against three of the perennially strongest California programs -- Mater Dei, Servite and Los Angeles Cathedral.

Bryan Ibarra is making a strong case for Ornage County Player of the Year has he netted three more goals last week, including both tallies in the Grizzlies' 2-1 win over Santiago.

Sergio Hipolito scored in the final minute of regulation as Redlands East Valley rallied for a 2-1 league win over Carter. The Wildcats will play in the Poly Tournament this week.

This was supposed to be a down year for De La Salle, but that doesn't seem to be the case so far. The Spartans tied Servite and lost 1-0 to Los Angeles Cathedral last week.
