The winter high school season includes the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

1 (1) Montverde Academy Montverde, FL 20-0-1*
Season Complete. Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament champion.
School Facts: Private, 750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Montverde Academy capped a seventh straight undefeated season with a 4-1 victory over Paramount (Calif.) in the MAST final. The program is now riding a 157-match undefeated streak, dating to November 2010. This year's team was led by forward Kizza Edward, a Pitt signee who was named MAST MVP after scoring at least one goal in each of the team's three MAST victories. The Eagles defeated Watsonville (Calif.) and St. Paul's (La.) to reach the final. The team was ahead 3-0 within 15 minutes of every MAST match. Joao Lucas Santos and Ohio State signee Josh Jackson made the all-tournament team. Virginia-bound keeper Connor Jones was named Most Outstanding Keeper. So far 12 Montverde Academy seniors have signed with NCAA Division I programs.
2 (2) Godinez Santa Ana, CA 27-1-0*
Season Complete. CIF Southern California Regional Division II champion. CIF Southern Section Division 2 champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,540 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Bryan Ibarra capped a stellar high school career, scoring two goals and assisting the third as Godinez won the Southern California Regional final 3-1 over Santa Maria. Ibarra finished the season with 37 goals, 11 of them coming during the postseason.
3 (3) Cypress Bay Weston, FL 21-1-2*
Season Complete. Florida Class 5A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 4,400 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: David Corredor scored an early goal and it was enough to carry Cypress Bay to a 1-0 victory over Lakewood Ranch in the state final. Keeper Sebastian Deckers finished with five saves. The title marked the fifth in the past seven seasons for Cypress Bay, but this one was a more emotional victory for the Lightning, who had dedicated the season to a former teammate who died in a skateboarding accident in September.
4 (4) Pleasant Valley Chico, CA 23-0-0*
Season Complete. CIF Northern Section Division I champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,865 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Logan Hall scored twice and Pleasant Valley extended its undefeated run to 86 matches with a 4-2 victory over rival Chico. Pleasant Valley handed Chico all four of its defeats in an 18-4-2 season. Daniel Rodriguez, the team's top scorer, and Dante Jackson scored PV's other goals as it claimed a fourth straight section crown.

Paramount Paramount, CA 23-5-2*
Season Complete. CIF Southern California Regional Division I champion. CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 4,875 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Paramount made the most of a second chance, ripping El Toro 5-1 in the Southern California Regional final. Jesus Salazar scored twice. Paramount, which beat El Toro during he regular season, lost to the Chargers 1-0 in the section semifinals, yet received an at-large bid to the SCR. Paramount lost its best returning player to academics prior to the season and got off to a rough start. The team went 18-2-2 in its last 22 matches, and the only losses were top-ranked Montverde Academy (Fla.) and El Toro. The Pirates placed second to Montverde at the MAST, which included a 2-0 win over The Woodlands (Texas).

Dallas Jesuit Dallas, TX 22-3-1*
Season Complete. Texas 6A state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 1,100 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Christian Lerna scored in overtime as Dallas Jesuit edged Sam Houston 2-1 in the state final. Tommy Flaim gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the first half before Sam Houston drew event to send the match to overtime. In the semifinals, keeper Luke Ostrander came up big in the penalty kick shootout as Dallas Jesuit edged Lincoln-Juarez. Jesuit defeated regionally ranked Sachse and Mesquite during the playoffs and finished first in the district ahead of Coppell after beating and tying the perennial state power.

Sam Houston Arlington, TX 22-3-2*
Season Complete. Texas 6A state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 3,600 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Jason Ramirez scored in the second half to tie the match before Sam Houston fell to Dallas Jesuit 2-1 in overtime in the state final. In the semifinals, Sam Houston edged Pasadena Dobie 2-1 to set up an all-Dallas state final with Jesuit.

Dobie Houston, TX 19-3-4*
Season Complete. Texas 6A state semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 3,850 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Edwin Saldivar converted a penalty kick to give Dobie a 1-0 lead before Sam Houston scored twice in the second half to snag a 2-1 state semifinal victory. The result ended a strong postseason showing for Dobie, which was making its first ever state tournament appearance. Dobie had key postseason wins over Seven Lakes, North Shore and Channelview.

North Shore Houston, TX 20-1-3*
Season Complete. Texas 6A region quarterfinalist.
School Facts: Public, 4,725 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: North Shore's season ended with a 2-0 loss to Pasadena Dobie in the regional quarterfinals. North Shore had defeated Dobie 4-1 earlier in the season. North Shore also posted a 5-1 win over Brownsville Lopez, last year's 5A state champion who made it back to the state semifinals in 2017. The Mustangs also defeated Channelview and tied the rematch en route to a district title.

Seabreeze Daytona Beach, FL 23-1-2*
Season Complete. Florida Class 3A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,650 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Franco Perez factored in both goals as Seabreeze defeated Merritt Island 2-0 for the program's first state title since 1993. Perez, a junior whose father played professionally in Uruguay, set up an own goal with a throw-in early in the match, and later scored a goal to finish with 23 on the season.
11 (11) Northwest Rankin Flowood, MS 23-1-0*
Season Complete. Mississippi Class 6A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,450 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Defender Sumner Richardson had a goal and one assist as Northwest Rankin defeated Ocean Springs 2-0 in the state final. The result ended a four-year title run by Madison Central. Northwest Rankin's key win this year was a 2-0 decision over St. Paul's (La.). Interestingly, Northwest Rankin was outshot both in the win over St. Paul's and the in the state final, yet produced where it mattered most - on the scoreboard. The team was led by UAB commit Chandler Shirley.
12 (12) Gilbert Gilbert, AZ 18-2-1*
Season Complete. Arizona Class 6A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,550 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Fort Lewis signee Danny Baca's 37th goal of the year lifted Gilbert to a 1-0 victory over previously undefeated Tolleson in the state final. Baca's winner came in the final seven minutes of play. The win atoned for a state runner-up finish last year, when Gilbert allowed a late goal to lose to Hamilton.
13 (13) Tolleson Union Tolleson, AZ 20-1-0*
Season Complete. Arizona Class 6A state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 1,900 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: After knocking off co-favorite Corona del Sol in the state semifinals, Tolleson came up short in a 1-0 loss to Gilbert in the state final.

Channelview Channelview, TX 18-2-4*
Season Complete. Texas 6A region runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 2,300 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Channelview, the district runner-up to North Shore, fell to Dobie in a shootout following a 2-2 match. Channelview had postseason victories over Houston King and Cypress Ridge, which had knocked out Strake Jesuit. Seniors Henry Estrada and Juan De La Cruz combined for 34 goals.
15 (15) El Toro Lake Forest, CA 17-11-0*
Season Complete. CIF Southern California Regional Division I runner-up. CIF Southern Section Division 1 champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,925 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: El Toro won seven straight playoff games -- six of them over SIMA FAB 50-ranked teams -- until falling to Paramount in the Southern California Regional final. El Toro started the season with eight losses in its first 12 matches, but put everything together in January and won the league title and section crowns.
16 (16) Redlands East Valley Redlands, CA 23-1-1*
Season Complete. California Southern Section Division 1 runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 2,220 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Redlands East Valley's season ended with a shootout loss to El Toro in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 final. The match marked the end for the team and coach Ted Small, who had announced his retirement earlier in the season. REV, despite the high finish, declined a spot in the CIF Southern California Regionals. Leading to the section final, the Wildcats won three straight 1-0 matches over Redondo Union, Edison and Palos Verdes. Palos Verdes and Edison advanced to the regionals after REV passed on the opportunity.
17 (17) Merritt Island Merritt Island, FL 20-2-0*
Season Complete. Florida Class 3A state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 1,500 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Merritt Island's season ended with a 2-0 setback to Daytona Seabreeze in the state final. The Mustangs defeated perennial power Melbourne during the regular season, edged Tampa Jesuit in the playoffs and pinned a rare loss on Immokalee in the state semifinals before running into Seabreeze.
18 (18) Fleming Island Orange Park, FL 23-1-2*
Season Complete. Florida Class 4A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,100 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Mark Suhrer scored twice and Reed Davis scored his 50th goal of the season to highlight Fleming Island's 4-0 thrashing of Doral Charter in the state final. Fleming Island avenged its only loss of the season by winning a playoff rematch with Leon. Along the way to the final, Fleming Island edged Melbourne 2-1 in overtime in the state semifinals.
19 (19) Hamilton Chandler, AZ 18-4-1*
Season Complete. Arizona Class 6A state semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 3,650 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Hamilton's bid for a state title repeat ended with a state semifinal loss to Gilbert. During the season, Hamilton won the consolation bracket at the Lotto Showcase, beating Cathedral (Calif.) in overtime. The team also won the AZ Showcase, edging rival Corona del Sol in PKs just weeks after losing to the Aztecs. Hamilton was led by Grand Canyon signee Joshua Drack.
20 (20) Corona del Sol Tempe, AZ 17-3-2*
Season Complete. Arizona Class 6A state quarterfinalist.
School Facts: Public, 2,750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Corona del Sol's season ended with a loss to Tolleson. The Aztecs won the Lotto Western Showcase in California and was runner-up at the AZ Showcase. The team's losses were to Top 25 teams -- Gilbert, Tolleson and Hamilton. The Aztecs, led by forward Ryan Flood, also had a win over Hamilton, in addition to victories over Cathedral (Calif.), Servite (Calif.), Mater Dei (Calif.) and twice over Brophy Prep.
21 (21) Cathedral Los Angeles, CA 18-2-5*
Season Complete. CIF Southern Section Division 1 Round of 16.
School Facts: Private, all-boys 750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Cathedral's season ended with a shootout loss to eventual section champion El Toro in the Round of 16. Cathedral, which allowed only nine goals during the season, had two wins over Loyola, two wins over Torrey Pines, and a victory over Servite to highlight the victories. The team had losses to Hamilton (Ariz.) and Oceanside, and a PK setback to Corona del Sol (Ariz.).
22 Juarez-Lincoln Mission, TX 30-4-1*
Season Complete. Texas 6A state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 2,300 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Juarez-Lincoln outshot Dallas Jesuit and created more scoring chances, but simply couldn't get the ball past Dallas Jesuit keeper Luke Ostrander when it mattered most -- falling in a shootout in the state semifinals. Juarez-Lincoln's record reflects the "mini-games" played during early season tournaments in the Rio Grande region.

Season Complete. Texas Class 6A region runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 2,350 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Hebron defeated Southlake Carroll 1-0 in the region quarterfinals and Bowie 2-0 in the semifinals before falling in overtime to Sam Houston in the region final. The Hawks were the District 5-6A champion, a district that featured three nationally ranked teams during the season.

School Facts: Public, 2,775 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Sachse stunned Coppell 2-1 in the region quarterfinals behind early goals by Drew Coley and Angel Rodriguez. The Mustangs then handled Nimitz in the region semifinals before losing to Dallas Jesuit in the region final.
