The winter high school season includes the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

School Facts: Private, 750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Montverde Academy capped a seventh straight undefeated season with a 4-1 victory over Paramount (Calif.) in the MAST final. The program is now riding a 157-match undefeated streak, dating to November 2010. This year's team was led by forward Kizza Edward, who was named MAST MVP after scoring at least one goal in each of the team's three MAST victories. The Eagles defeated Watsonville (Calif.) and St. Paul's (La.) to reach the final. The team was ahead 3-0 with 15 minutes of every MAST match. Joao Lucas Santos and Josh Jackson made the all-tournament team. Virginia-bound keeper Connor Jones was named Most Outstanding Keeper.

Coppell was idle last week.
3 (3) Godinez Santa Ana, CA 12-0-0
Bryan Ibarra scored goals in both outings as Godinez, the top-ranked team in the Orange County Register, defeated Estancia and Laguna Beach last week.

South Torrance Torrance, CA 14-0-0
South Torrance edged city rival Torrance 1-0 to remain undefeated and move up in the SIMA FAB 50 as the No. 2 team in California.
5 (5) Merritt Island Merritt Island, FL 12-0-0
Merritt Island rolled up nine goals in a 9-3 win over Astronaut last week. The Mustangs are averaging just under 5 goals per match this season.

Southlake Carroll Southlake, TX 4-0-0
Nat Kajiwara scored twice as Southlake Carroll handled Grapevine 5-0 behind a strong second-half showing. The Dragons have yet to allow a goal this season. A week earlier, Dragons coach Rusty Ogelsby collected career win No. 400.

Corona del Sol Tempe, AZ 14-1-1
Corona routed Desert Ridge after playing Highland to a 2-2 tie last week.
8 Plano West Plano, TX 3-0-0
Trent Ivey was named top goalkeeper and Sam Phillips earned Defensive MVP honors after Plano West opened the season with a Allen Tournament championship. The Wolves defeated Flower Mound 3-0 in the final.

Northwest Rankin Flowood, MS 18-0-0
Chandler Shirley and Sumner Richardson scored the goals as Northwest Rankin edged Madison Central 2-1 in a battle of state title contenders. Although Northwest Rankin moves up, its future ranking will remain linked to St. Paul's (La.), a team it defeated 2-0 despite getting outshot. St. Paul's went 1-2 at the Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament last week.

Oceanside Oceanside, CA 7-1-5
Oceanside played to a scoreless draw with regionally ranked Poway last week. The Pirates had an earlier win over Cathedral, but loss to Servite. However, Cathedral's win over Servite last week shuffled the order of those SoCal powers, to Oceanside's benefit -- for now.

Cathedral Los Angeles, CA 11-2-4
Xavier Cruzata and Alex Lugo scored goals, Cathedral picked up an own goal, and Cathedral recorded its 12th shutout of the year with a 3-0 victory over Servite in a clash of SoCal powers. The non-league game was arranged to get Cathedral and Servite players looks from college coaches who were attending the NSCAA Convention last week in Los Angeles.

David Tapia scored a late goal as Alisal defeated Alvarez last week 1-0 in a batle of SIMA FAB 50 Top 25 teams.
13 Sam Houston Arlington, TX 3-0-1
Sam Houston, which tied Boyd last week in a battle of undefeated teams, also pinned a loss on former Top 25-ranked Duncanville. The Texans went 2-0 at the North Texas event hosted by Coppell, but due to weather regulations were unable to play a match against Coppell.

Two weeks of perfect results lifts Strake Jesuit into the Top 25 this week. Strake went 3-0 at the Governor's Cup last week. The Crusaders have an upcoming match with Cinco Ranch on Jan. 24.

Alec Hooper scored twice as Redlands East Valley remained undefeated with a 3-0 win over Eisenhower.

After defeating league rival Mater Dei to start the week, Servite suffered a 3-0 loss to Cathedral in a special non-league match held for the benefit of college coaches attending the NSCAA Convention in Los Angeles.

Despite a 1-1 draw with Livermore last week, De La Salle remains in a close battle for No. 1 in the EBAL with San Ramon Valley. The teams will clash in two weeks.

Cinco Ranch, a fixture in the Top 25 in recent years, is back up to No. 20 following an undefeated start to the season. The team capped a 2-0-1 showing at the Austin Lakes Elite Showcase with a 3-0 victory over Round Rock, a team that reached the North Texas Elite Showcase at Coppell semifinals.
