The winter high school season includes the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

Season Complete. Undefeated independent school season.
School Facts: Private, 1,200 students, grades K-12.
NOTES: Montverde Academy closed out an eighth straight undefeated season with three victories in the final week. The Eagles are riding a national record 174-match undefeated streak. This year, Montverde Academy fielded four unique varsity lineups, rolling out teams based on the competition. The SIMA Red, juniors and seniors, rolled to lopsided wins over Leon (7-1) and Merritt Island (6-1) and featured Pitt signees Facundo Costantini, Jackson Walti and Rodrigo Almeida and Butler signee Gabriel Gjergji, among 17 senior signees and counting.
2 (2) Alief Elsik Houston, TX 25-0-2*
Season Complete. Texas Class 6A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 3,975 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Senior Jose Umana converted a penalty kick in the 12th minute and senior goalkeeper Eliaz Zamora, the game's MVP, made it stand as Elsik completed an undefeated season with a 1-0 win over Reagan in the state final. The result earns Elsik the title of top public school team in the nation for the winter season. In addition to Zamora and Umana, Edgar Renteria and Mayno Linares -- both sophomores -- made the all-tournament team. Linares netted all three goals in the team's 3-1 state semifinal win over Irving.
3 (3) St. Ignatius San Francisco, CA 20-1-5*
Season Complete. CIF NorCal Division I champion. Central Coast Section Open champion.
School Facts: Private, 1,500 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Alex Bailey's overtime goal gave St. Ignatius a 3-2 overtime win over Montgomery in the CIF NorCal Division I final. Nick Brown, who scored in Saturday's final to make it 2-2, scored the game-winning goal in the regional semifinal 1-0 victory over previously undefeated Folsom. St. Ignatius defeated three FAB 50-ranked teams in the NorCal championships.
4 (4) Folsom Folsom, CA 23-1-4*
Season Complete. CIF NorCal Division I semifinalist. Sac-Joaquin Section Division I champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Folsom, which had not lost a match on the field since the 2015-16 season, saw its stellar season end in a 1-0 NorCal semifinal loss to St. Ignatius. The Bulldogs went undefeated last year before having to forfeit a playoff win. This year's team won the section title and was led offensively by Kevin Grewal, who finished with 29 goals.
5 (5) Torrey Pines San Diego, CA 25-1-4*
Season Complete. CIF SoCal Division II champion. San Diego Section Open semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 2,715 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Cooper Geffen and Ali Demiralp scored late goals to lift Torrey Pines to a 3-1 victory over Sotomayor in the SoCal Division II final. Torrey Pines' only loss was to rival La Costa Canyon, which it defeated two other times during the season. The Falcons had key early season wins over Los Angeles Cathedral and Servite.
6 (6) Loyola Los Angeles, CA 23-3-7*
Season Complete. CIF SoCal Division I champion. Southern Section Division 1 semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 2,715 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: After losing to Santa Barbara in the section semifinals, Loyola roared back with a regional title, knocking off El Camino Real, Los Angeles Cathedral and San Clemente. Aidan Cuevas netted the game-winner for Loyola in what proved to be a validation event for the Southern Section. All four SoCal Regional semifinalists were the same four teams that reached the Southern Section semifinals one week earlier -- as they eliminated all challengers from the Central, Los Angeles and San Diego sections.
7 (7) Santa Barbara Santa Barbara, CA 19-2-3*
Season Complete. CIF SoCal Division I semifinalist. Southern Section Division 1 champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,230 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: A week after edging Cathedral in the Southern Section championship, Santa Barbara was upended by San Clemente in the regional semifinals. The Dons' season included a pair of wins over eventual SoCal Regional champ Loyola and a shootout victory over Cathedral in the Southern Section final.
8 (8) Cathedral Los Angeles, CA 20-4-5*
Season Complete. CIF SoCal Division I semifinalist. Southern Section Division 1 runner-up.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Diego Barahona scored the team's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Loyola in the SoCal Regional semifinals. during the regular season, Cathedral had wins over Desert Vista (Ariz.) and NorCal Division II runner-up Richmond, tied Brophy Prep (Ariz.), Loyola and San Clemente (won on PKs in the playoffs) and had a loss to Torrey Pines.

San Antonio Reagan San Antonio, TX 19-2-7*
Season Complete. Texas Class 6A state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 3,100 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Despite applying a lot of pressure on goal, especially late playing with a man advantage for the final 28 minutes, Reagan could not get the tying goal in a 1-0 state final setback to Alief Elsik. In the semifinals, Reagan rallied for a 3-1 victory over Coppell, a team that took No. 11 Brophy Prep (Ariz.) to a shootout early in the season. Santi De La Torre scored twice for the Rattlers in the win over Coppell. Reagan lost early to Lake Travis, then avenged that defeat in the playoffs. De La Torre, Jacob Galan and Michael Morrell were named to the all-tournament team.

Desert Vista Phoenix, AZ 18-4-2*
Season Complete. Arizona Class 6A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 3,050 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: After twice losing to Brophy Prep during the season, Desert Vista pulled off a state final stunner with a 3-0 victory. Parker Lischwe, Jayden Bourg and Max Wennes scored second-half goals to deliver a title for a Thunder team that played most of the season under an interim head coach. Of the team's four losses, two were to Brophy and one to Los Angeles Cathedral (Calif.). Desert Vista put together an 11-game win streak to end the season, which included a state semifinal win over then undefeated Chandler.

Brophy Prep Phoenix, AZ 21-1-2*
Season Complete. Arizona Class 6A state runner-up.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 1,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Brophy's bid to finish No. 1 in the FAB 50 was foiled in a state final loss to Desert Vista. Brophy's stellar season included tournament titles at the Arizona Showcase and the North Texas Elite Showcase. The team was led offensively by UC Santa Barbara signee Carter Clemmensen, who topped 40 goals this season.

Season Complete. Arizona Class 6A state semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 3,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Chandler lost to eventual state champion Desert Vista in a state semifinals. The Wolves played Brophy Prep to a draw during the regular season. The team was led offensive by Jesus Garza, who finished with 20 goals and 12 assists.
13 (13) American Heritage-Plantation Plantation, FL 21-1-3*
Season Complete. Florida 3A state champion.
School Facts: Private, 2,800 students, grades PK-12.
NOTES: Sebastian Vidarte's last-second shot deflected off a defender and into the goal for the winning score as American Heritage defeated defending state champion Daytona Seabreeze 1-0 with 4 seconds remaining in double overtime. The title marked the sixth for the program, but first since 2012.
14 (14) Plant City Plant City, FL 19-1-0*
Season Complete. Florida 5A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,220 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Paulino Ramirez scored a late goal in regulation and then keeper David Jalomo came up big in the shootout as Plant City upended Miami Beach in the state final. The victory marked the program's first state title. Plant City also handed Palm Harbor University its only loss of the season in the regional final.

San Clemente San Clemente, CA 19-6-6*
Season Complete. CIF SoCal Division I runner-up. Southern Section Division 1 semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 2,230 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: A week after falling to Cathedral in the section tournament, San Clemente worked its way to the SoCal Regional final, where it fell to Loyola in overtime. The Tritons had a win over section champ Santa Barbara to reach the regional final. Overall, San Clemente went 5-2 in the postseason. The team was led by Portland signee Tristan Weber.

Season Complete. CIF SoCal Division I quarterfinalist. San Diego Section Open champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,775 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: San Marcos' season ended with a 2-0 loss to San Clemente, a team the Knights defeated early in the year to jumpstart a lengthy win streak.

Coppell Coppell, TX 22-4-2*
Season Complete. Texas Class 6A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 3,975 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: SMU signee Wyatt Priest gave Coppell a 1-0 lead in the state semifinals before the team fell to Reagan 3-1. Coppell had gone 20-1-2 in the 23 matches leading up to the state semifinals. Priest and junior defender Jeremy Basso were named to the all-tournament team.

Hawaii Prep Kamuela, HI 14-0-1*
Season Complete. Hawaii Division I co-state champion.
School Facts: Private, 600 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Hawaii Prep and Baldwin played to a scoreless state final where the teams agreed to end the match early following repeated lightning interruptions. Jake Schneider was the team's leading scorer and scored twice in a state semifinal victory.

School Facts: Public, 1,500 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Hawaii Prep and Baldwin played to a scoreless state final where the teams agreed to end the match early following repeated lightning interruptions. Daniel Souza was the Bears top scorer this season and netted a goal and had two assists in a state semifinal win over defending state champion Punahou.

Season Complete. CIF NorCal Division I runner-up. North Coast Section Open champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,700 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Montgomery's season ended with a 3-2 overtime loss to St. Ignatius in the NorCal Regional Championship final. Zack Batchelder scored for Montgomery and the Vikings added an own goal for the 2-2 regulation score. Montgomery had postseason wins over Richmond, the NorCal Regional Division 2 runner-up, and Burlingame, the team that knocked out Archbishop Mitty and Alisal in the section playoffs.

NOTES: Palm Harbor University's near-perfect run ended with a playoff loss to eventual state champion Plant City. The Hurricanes had three wins over regionally ranked Wiregrass Ranch.

Season Complete. CIF SoCal Division I quarterfinalist. Los Angeles Division I champion.
School Facts: Public, 3,850 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: El Camino Real's season ended with a 2-0 loss to Loyola in the SoCal quarterfinals. This perennial LA power won the LA City title over Sotomayor, which reached the SoCal Division II final before losing to Torrey Pines.

Wakeland Frisco, TX 19-4-6*
Season Complete. Texas Class 5A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Marc Borbonus, Reid Stewart and William Hitchcock scored to give Wakeland a 3-0 lead en route to a 3-1 win over Aledo in the 5A state final. The win gave Wakeland back-to-back boys state titles and provided the school with a rare boys-girls sweep. The Wakeland girls won its 5A crown earlier in the day, marking the first time a Texas school swept state titles since 1985. Borbonus was named MVP while Stewart, Jacob Miller and Todd Fuller were selected to the all-tournament team.
24 (24) Irving Irving, TX 15-6-4*
Season Complete. Texas Class 6A state semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 2,425 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: After riding a string of surprises to reach the state semifinals, Irving's season came to an end with a 3-1 loss to Alief Elsik. Trailing 2-0, Shane Anderson scored from 25 yards out to make it a ballgame until Elsik's super sophomore Mayno Linares closed it out for Elsik with his third goal. En route to the state semifinals, Irving stunned Trinity, Grand Prairie, Montwood and Boyd -- all teams that were ranked higher in the regional rankings at the time of the match. Anderson and Luiz Morales were named to the all-tournament team.
25 (25) McKinney Boyd McKinney, TX 22-1-3*
Season Complete. Texas Class 6A regional runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 2,880 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: McKinney Boyd suffered yet another heartbreak defeat in the playoffs, again ending an undefeated season. This time the Broncos were upset by Irving 1-0.

High School Rankings HQ
