NOTES: Montverde Academy's bid for a ninth straight undefeated season came up short due to one December defeat, ending its national record undefeated run at 185 matches. The Eagles, however, defeated FAB 50-ranked Tampa Jesuit along with three other district champions and two district runners-up. The team featured goalkeeper Weston King (Louisville), Bernardo Gracindo (Northeastern), Bryan Moreira (Indianapolis), Bruno De Nez, Ricardo Paiva, Pedro Melo, Xavier Laneuville, Frederico Tramonina and Ricardo Rego.

Manuel Quiroz had five goals and three assists last week as Sunnyside closed out an undefeated regular season with a pair of wins.

Mira Costa received the No. 3 seed in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 tournament and faces Sherman Oaks Notre Dame in the first round.

San Luis closes regular season play against regionally ranked Santa Maria this week with the Mountain League title on the line. Santa Maria handed San Luis Obispo its only defeat this year, but then lost a pair of league matches to fall behind the Tigers in the standings entering the final match.

Cathedral is the No. 2 seed in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 tournament and will face the winner of the Hueneme vs. Harvard-Westlake first-round matchup.

De La Salle fell behind Monte Vista 2-0 before rallying for a 4-2 win to remain undefeated in the EBAL.

Jonathan Castro scored two goals in each of Valley View's one-sided wins over perennial strong Brownsville Lopez and Brownsville Porter. Valley View defeated Lopez 6-1 and Porter 6-2.

Anthony Barajas netted five goals last week as Mater Dei closed out an undefeated league showing with wins over Orange Lutheran and JSerra. Mater Dei opens postseason play against Capistrano Valley in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 tournament this week.

San Clemente starts postseason play against Century in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 tournament this week. The Tritons have a challenging group, which includes Paramount, Santa Ana, Corona del Mar, Servite and Millikan. Only one of the teams can advance to the section semifinals.

Montgomery is three wins away from a perfect run through league play. Considering the Vikings scored five goals against each of the remaining teams in the first time through the league, it would be a surprise if Montgomery wasn't undefeated after Saturday's final match.

Kalani Kossa-Rienzi had a goal and two assists in Berkeley's 4-2 win over rival Bishop O'Dowd to cap a two-win week.

The Raiders defeated South Broward 3-1 last week to capture the district title. The Raiders next face always-tough Belen Jesuit in the Class 4A regional quarterfinals.

Jahan Seifollahi had a goal and two assists last week as Bellarmine defeated Archbishop Mitty and Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep. The wins sets up this week's Bellarmine-St. Ignatius clash as the contest that likely will settle the WCAL title race.

The Blue Jays closed out regular season play with a 3-2 win over Newman.

Julian Boyce had a goal and one assist in both of McClatchy's wins last week.

Marcus Flower Mound, TX 9-2-1
Marcus, whose two losses are to California teams, made a major jump this week after knocking off Hebron and Coppell. Tomas Pondeca scored all three goals in the team's 3-2 win over Coppell. Marcus received goals from three players in a 3-0 win over Hebron, which happened three days before Hebron knocked off then FAB 50 No. 1-ranked Flower Mound.

Seven Lakes and Tompkins played to a 1-1 draw last week in the first of at least two meetings between these district rivals.

Ammon Lewis netted the lone goal as Tompkins and Seven Lakes played to a 1-1 draw last week. Tompkins' lone loss this year is a 1-0 setback to No. 23 Flower Mound Marcus.
