FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The fall season includes the following states: California (fall section only), Connecticut, D.C., Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia (private), Washington, West Virginia.

The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

1 (1) Davis Kaysville, UT 20-0-0*
Season Complete. Utah Class 5A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,375 students, grades 10-12.
NOTES: BYU commits Mikayla Colohan and junior Olivia Wade scored the goals as Davis capped a second straight perfect season with its third straight state title in a 2-1 victory over SIMA FAB 50-ranked Fremont. Davis is riding a state record 44-match win streak. The Darts, which finished No. 2 in the FAB 50 last year following a 20-0 season and outscoring opponents 109-8, took it a step further this year by outscoring foes 120-8.
2 (2) Penn Mishawaka, IN 22-0-1*
Season Complete. Indiana Class 2A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 3,400 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Florida State commit Kristina Lynch, a junior, had a goal and one assist as Penn defeated Brebeuf Jesuit 2-0 in a state final rematch from 2015. Maya Lacognato, a sophomore, scored the first goal before Lynch sealed the outcome later in the second half to deliver Penn its first-ever state title. Senior Sommer Domal had four key saves to earn the shutout. Lynch finished the season with 38 goals and 26 assists (102 points). WATCH THE STATE FINAL UNDER THE "ON DEMAND" TAB. Underclassmen accounted for 101 of Penn's 123 goals this season, and if all return the Kingsmen will be a preseason favorite in the state, region and SIMA FAB 50 rankings in 2017.
3 (3) Walsh Jesuit Cuyahoga Falls, OH 22-1-0*
Season Complete. Ohio Division I state champion.
School Facts: Private, 1,300 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Junior Aubrey Bechter and senior Sofia Rossi, who is committed to Wake Forest, scored the goals as Walsh Jesuit won its fifth straight state title with a 2-0 decision over Springboro. During the five-year title run, Walsh Jesuit is 106-1-7. Rossi had scored the game-winner in the previous three state title wins, but this time her state final goal was merely the clincher for this powerhouse program.
4 (4) Glastonbury Glastonbury, CT 20-0-0*
Season Complete. Indiana Class LL state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,150 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Senior Caroline Bogue scored two goals and defender Danielle Brinkman anchored the defense as Glastonbury completed one of the most dominating runs in LL soccer history with a 4-1 state final win over Ridgefield. Glastonbury has won 60 straight matches and outscored its opponents 108-6 this season. Bogue finished the year with a school-record 34 goals as the Tomahawks won a third straight state title and earned the highest-ever SIMA FAB 50 ranking by a Connecticut program.
5 (5) Central Catholic Lawrence, MA 23-0-0*
Season Complete. Massachusetts Division 1 state champion.
School Facts: Private, 1,330 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Providence commit Elayna Grillakis, a junior, scored the first goal and Caitlin Regan added the clincher, assisted by Ashley Raphael, as Central Catholic defeated Nashoba 2-0 in the state final to cap a perfect season. Raphael scored the game-winner in overtime earlier in the week as Central Catholic edged Whitman-Hanson in a battle of Top 25 teams.

Camas Camas, WA 21-0-1*
Season Complete. Washington Class 4A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,000 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Maddie Kemp, Sabine Postma and Morgan Winston scored the goals as Camas handled West Valley 3-0 in the state final. Not to be overlooked, the Papermakers' defense, with keeper Julia Coombs, shut down West Valley, finishing the year with 21 shutouts and only two goals allowed in 23 matches. In the semifinals, Camas edged Top 25-ranked Skyline 1-0 on a goal by Alyssa Tomasini.

Hunterdon Central Flemington, NJ 21-1-1*
Season Complete. New Jersey Group 4 state champion.
School Facts: Public, 3,025 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Brie Pavol, Bucknell commit Sarah Hazard and Corinna Zullo scored the goals as Hunterdon Central cruised past Ridge 3-0 in the state final to secure the No. 1 ranking in a loaded New Jersey field. The win marked Hunterdon Central's first state title. The first goal was set up when South Carolina commit Lucinana Zullo was fouled about 30 yards out. Pavol converted the free kick to start the rout.

Hingham Hingham, MA 21-0-1*
Season Complete. Massachusetts Eastern Mass Division 2 champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,125 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Eve Hewins scored in overtime to lift Hingham to a 2-1 state final victory over Arlington, marking the program's third straight title. During the regular season, Hingham tied and defeated Top 25-ranked Whitman-Hanson.

Strongsville Strongsville, OH 18-1-1*
Season Complete. Ohio Division I region semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 2,600 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Strongsville fell behind Walsh Jesuit 2-0 on goals from distance and could not recover in a season-ending 2-1 loss. Sabrina Ortenzi scored Strongsville's goal with 11 minutes remaining. The Mustangs figure to reload in 2017 as juniors Vanessa Dinardo (Cincinnati commit) and Lauren Rakytiak (Kent State commit) are projected to return after combing for 44 goals.
10 Bellevue Bellevue, WA 20-0-2*
Season Complete. Washington Class 3A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,500 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Stanford commit and US Youth National Team member Jojo Harber scored both clutch goals last week as Bellevue won its first ever state title. Harber scored the lone goal in the team's 1-0 stunner over Seattle Prep in the semifinals, ending that team's 44-match win streak. Then Harber scored the lone goal in a 1-0 state final victory over Southridge.

Northern Highlands Allendale, NJ 21-1-1*
Season Complete. New Jersey Group 3 co-state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,350 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Northern Highlands and Wall played to a scoreless tie in the state final. unlike most states, New Jersey does not resort to penalty kicks in the state final. On the way to the final, Northern Highlands, with standouts Claire Nam and Notre Dame commit Eva Hurm, defeated Top 25-ranked Hopewell Valley. The result marked the program's fifth state title in six seasons.

Wall Township Wall, NJ 24-1-1*
Season Complete. New Jersey Group 3 co-state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,235 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Wall dodged a couple late scoring chances by Northern Highlands to settle on a scoreless draw in the state final. The tie marked the program's first state title.
13 (13) Canon-McMillan Canonsburg, PA 22-1-1*
Season Complete. Pennsylvania Class AAAA state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,530 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Addie Roman scored in overtime to lift Canon-McMillan to a 1-0 victory over upstart Central Bucks South in the first PIAA Class AAAA state final. Until this year, the state offered three classifications for soccer championships -- now it's four, and Pittsburgh came out looking strong. In both the AAAA and AAA final Pittsburgh teams won state titles over Philadelphia suburban schools. Canon-McMillan's lone setback was a loss to Top 25-ranked Norwin, but then the Big Macs won the rematch to get to the state semifinals where it handled Cumberland Valley 4-1.

Montgomery Santa Rosa, CA 21-1-0*
Season Complete. California North Coast Section Division I champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,755 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Montgomery was the preseason favorite over five-time defending champion Maria Carrillo based on projected returners. But even after a few opted to focus on club, a youthful lineup still delivered Montgomery a title-winning season. Underclassmen accounted for all three goals in the team's 3-0 championship victory over Windsor, marking the 10th section crown for Montgomery but first since 2009.

Whitman-Hanson Whitman, MA 20-2-1*
Season Complete. Massachusetts Division 1 state semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 1,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Taylor Robertson scored on an assist from UMass commit Lauren Bonavita, a junior, to give Whitman-Hanson a 1-0 lead, but the team ultimately fell to Central Catholic 2-1 in overtime of the state semifinals. Whitman-Hanson tied Hingham in the teams' first meeting, then lost the rematch. Both of the team's setbacks were to Top 10 opponents.

Brebeuf Jesuit Indianapolis, IN 22-2-1*
Season Complete. Indiana Class 2A state runner-up.
School Facts: Private, 800 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Keeper Lauren Turner had nine saves and Michigan-bound Alia Martin helped create a few scoring chances, but the Braves could not get past SIMA FAB 50 No. 2 Penn in a 2-0 state final loss. The meeting marked the second year in a row Brebeuf and Penn have met in the final. WATCH THE STATE FINAL UNDER THE "ON DEMAND" TAB. Given the high number of key underclass players on both rosters, a third straight state final encounter in 2017 would not be a surprise.

Centennial Circle Pines, MN 18-0-3*
Season Complete. Minnesota Class AA state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,035 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Tessa Trettel scored a goal in each half, both assisted by Olivia Lovick, as Centennial defeated Rosemount 2-1 to end a seven-year Lake and South Suburban conference stranglehold on large-school state titles. Centennial was the No. 5 seed entering the state quarterfinals, but was ranked No. 2 in the state by TopDrawerSoccer.com. Centennial won all three state playoff games by 2-1 margins, edging Lakeville North and Andover before the state final win.

School Facts: Public, 3,300 students, grades 10-12.
NOTES: Notre Dame commit Molly Feighan scored in overtime to lift Arlington to the program's first state title, a 2-1 win over three-time defending champ Massapequa. Kendall Feighan scored Arlington's first goal. Molly Feighan scored six goals in Arlington's last three matches.

Season Complete. New York Class AA state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 1,875 students, grades 10-12.
NOTES: Massapequa's three-year run of state titles ended with a 2-1 overtime loss to Arlington. Julia Hannon scored Massapequa's only goal in the state final. During the season, Illinois commit Hope Breslin became Massapequa's all-time leading goal scorer.

Seattle Prep Seattle, WA 22-1-0*
Season Complete. Washington Class 3A third-place finisher.
School Facts: Private, 720 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Seattle prep's 44-match win streak ended with a 1-0 loss to eventual state champion Bellevue in the state semifinals. Seattle Prep bounced back with a 1-0 victory over Blanchet on a goal by Helena Reischling in the third-place match.

Season Complete. Ohio Division I state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 1,625 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Springboro's 21-match undefeated streak ended with a 2-0 state final loss to Walsh Jesuit. Springboro opened the season with a loss to Strongsville and, with Auburn-bound keeper Morgan Ramby, rolled off an 18-0-3 stretch until running into Walsh Jesuit.

Season Complete. Pennsylvania Class AAAA state quarterfinalist.
School Facts: Public, 1,750, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Norwin's undefeated season came to an end following a 3-1 loss to Canon-McMillan in the state quarterfinals. Norwin won the previous meeting with Canon-McMillan a week earlier for the district title.

Season Complete. Washington Class 4A third-place finisher.
School Facts: Public, 2,050 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Skyline's undefeated run ended in a 1-0 loss to eventual state champion Camas in the state semifinals. In the third-place match, Cameron Tingey had a goal and one assist as Skyline defeated Hanford 2-0.

Hopewell Valley Central Pennington, NJ 23-2-1*
Season Complete. New Jersey Group 3 state semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 1,250 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Hopewell Valley built a 2-0 lead, but watched it disappear in the second half as the team allowed four goals in a 4-3 setback to Northern Highlands. Julie Cane, Katarina Nilsson and Sam Barnes scored for Hopewell Valley. Before that match, Hopewell Valley was 23-0-1 against New Jersey teams, losing only to Council Rock South (Pa.).
25 (25) Sacred Heart Yonkers, NY 15-3-0*
Season Complete. New York Catholic High School Athletic Association state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-girls, 900 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Long Island Catholic League champion will win the state title -- and Sacred Heart didn't disappoint. After upsetting favored St. Anthony's in the Long Island final, Sacred Heart capped the title run with a 1-0 victory over Nardin Academy. Only once in the last 20 years has the Long Island champ failed to win the state title. Sacred Heart's playoff run this year will result in preseason accolades in 2017 as the team started seven sophomores in the final. Despite the youthful lineup, it was senior Kristen McArdle who created the lone goal as her cross deflected off a Nardin defender for the only score in the contest.
