Sacred Heart Yonkers, NY 15-3-0*
Season Complete. New York Catholic High School Athletic Association state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-girls, 900 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Long Island Catholic League champion will win the state title -- and Sacred Heart didn't disappoint. After upsetting favored St. Anthony's in the Long Island final, Sacred Heart capped the title run with a 1-0 victory over Nardin Academy. Only once in the last 20 years has the Long Island champ failed to win the state title. Sacred Heart's playoff run this year will result in preseason accolades in 2017 as the team started seven sophomores in the final. Despite the youthful lineup, it was senior Kristen McArdle who created the lone goal as her cross deflected off a Nardin defender for the only score in the contest.
