FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The fall season includes the following states: California (fall section only), Connecticut, D.C., Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia (private), Washington, West Virginia.

The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

Wake Forest commit Sofia Rossi netted three goals in Walsh Jesuit's 5-0 win over Holy Name, then followed that with the game-winner in a 1-0 decision over Lakota East. Walsh Jesuit's undefeated streak now stands at 95 matches.

Issaquah starts regular season play Tuesday (Sept. 6) against Arlington.

Houston routed St. Agnes and city rival Germantown by a combined 18-0 margin last week. Vanderbilt commit Paola Ellis had two goals and one assist against St. Agnes. Madeline Eskin scored three times against Germantown.

McDonogh starts regular season play Sept. 13 against Archbishop Spalding.

Hope Breslin had two goals and one assist as Massapequa opened the season with a 3-1 win over Holy Name (Ohio) on Saturday. As a point of reference, SIMA FAB 50 No. 4 Walsh Jesuit (Ohio) defeated Holy Name 5-0 five days earlier.

Strongsville validated its lofty showing with an impressive week. First, the Mustangs took out then SIMA FAB 50-ranked Brunswick 3-0, then traveled to California where it defeated St. Pius (N.M.) 3-2 in its first of a two-game West Coast trip. Regan Ward scored twice against St. Pius. The second match in California was against defending section champion Maria Carrillo on Labor Day, which counts in next week's state, region and national rankings.

Brooke VanDyck's late goal helped Penn to a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame Academy (Ky.) to complete a 1-0-1 showing at the Lady Eagle Invitation in Zionsville, Ind. In the opening match, Penn played to a 2-2 draw with Brunswick (Ohio), a team No. 9 Strongsville (Ohio) handily defeated earlier in the week. On Monday, VanDyck, a junior, committed to Butler.

Tarah Roller scored three goals last week as Medina opened the season with wins over Padua and Westlake.

Cumberland Valley is scheduled to start regular season play Tuesday (Sept. 6) against Red Land.

Ariana Fernandez scored twice as Maria Carrillo defeated St. Pius (N.M.), handing the team its first loss of the year. The Pumas are hosting St. Pius and Strongsville over the Labor Day weekend, with the Maria Carrillo-Strongsville clash scheduled for last night (Monday, Sept. 5).

Louisville commit Cassie Amshoff had a weekend to remember, scoring all five of Sacred Heart's goals in wins over Cincinnati St. Ursula (Ohio) and Carmel (Ind.) at the Lady Eagle Invitational in Zionsville, Ind. Amshoff scored four against St. Ursula, and her first-half tally against Carmel held up for a 1-0 victory over the Indiana power despite getting overwhelming outshot.

Carmel routed two-time defending state champ and SIMA FAB 50-ranked Brebeuf Jesuit 4-0 before falling to Sacred Heart Academy (Ky.) 1-0 at the Lady Eagle Invitational in Zionsville, Ind. Carmel held a 14-2 edge in shots on goal in the match with Sacred Heart.

Somers starts regular season play Tuesday (Sept. 6) against Eastchester.
