FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The fall season includes the following states: Connecticut, D.C., Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia (private), Washington, West Virginia.

The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

1 (1) Penn Mishawaka, IN 23-0-1*
Season Complete. Indiana Class 2A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 3,400 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Florida State commit Kristina Lynch, known for her goal scoring ability, assisted both second-half goals as Penn repeated as state champion. Xavier commit Holly McLaughlin scored the first goal off a pass from Lynch in the 54th minute, then Lynch set up Maya Lacognato's game-clincher seven minutes later. Penn has posted back-to-back undefeated seasons and heads into 2018 with a 47-match (45-0-2) undefeated streak. Northwestern commit Mackenzie Wood made a point-blank save early in the match to keep the game scoreless. Lynch finished the season with 44 goals and 19 assists. Juniors Lacognato and Notre Dame commit Brooke VanDyck each ended with 13 goals and double-digit assists. WATCH THE STATE FINAL UNDER THE "ON DEMAND" TAB.
2 (2) Portland Jesuit Portland, OR 19-0-0*
Season Complete. Oregon Class 4A state champion.
School Facts: Private, 1,250 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: After a pair of close calls in the Round of 16 and state quarterfinals, Portland Jesuit made no doubt about in the final weekend of the season. The Crusaders handled Lincoln 6-1 in the state semifinals and Sunset 4-0 in the final. Sophomore Callahan Harrington scored four goals in the semifinals and finals. Cal commit Emma Treasure and freshman Madeline Koleno each scored three goals. Other key players on this year's included Gonzaga commit Sophia Braun and Cal commit Sydney Collins. Portland Jesuit outscored its opponents 86-2 for the season.
3 (3) Houston Germantown, TN 25-0-0*
Season Complete. Tennessee Class AAA state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,950 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Freshman Emma Riales scored the lone goal as Houston edged rival Collierville in an all-Memphis area state final to complete a perfect season. The win marked the eighth title for Houston under longtime coach David Wolff. The Houston senior class went 85-2-4 with two state titles, a runner-up finish and one semifinal appearance.

St. Anthony's Melville, NY 17-0-0*
Season Complete. New York Catholic High School Athletic Association champion state champion.
School Facts: Private, 2,600 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: As is usually the case, the Long Island Catholic champ steamrolls its way to the state title. After playing its most difficult matches in the league playoffs leading up to the state tournament, St. Anthony's routed Notre Dame Academy 8-1 in the state semifinals and handled Xaverian 4-0 in the final. Brianna Passaro scored twice in each outing. Lauren Hackett had three goals and one assist in the final two matches.

Moon Moon, PA 26-0-0*
Season Complete. Pennsylvania Class AAA state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Miami (Ohio) commit Delaney Snyder scored in the first half to carry Moon to a 1-0 victory over Villa Joseph Marie in the state final. The result pushed Moon's win streak to 43, which is the second-longest active win streak in the country as of Nov. 20. Snyder finished the season with 56 goals. Villa Joseph Marie was marking a fourth straight state final appearance and third straight runner-up finish ... the last two years to Moon.

Wall Township Wall, NJ 24-1-2*
Season Complete. New Jersey Group 2 state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Senior Hailee Reinhardt scored in overtime to lift Wall to a 4-3 victory over Westwood for the school's first outright state title. Last year, Wall was a co-state champion. Sarah Gordon scored twice and Jenna Karabin scored in regulation for Wall. The team avenged its lone setback by defeating eventual Group 4 co-champ Freehold Township in the second meeting between the state powers.

Norwin Irwin, PA 21-2-1*
Season Complete. Pennsylvania Class AAAA state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,650 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Sophomore Dani Iannuzzo scored on a corner kick in the 73rd minute as Norwin edged Neshaminy 1-0 in the PIAA Class 4A final. Senior keeper and Ohio University commit Samantha Wexell added a 53rd shutout to her school record career total. This year's Norwin team also featured Rutgers commit Emily Harrigan and Duquesne commit Lexy Kendro. Wexell, Harrigan and Kendro were names to the Pennsylvania coaches all-state team.

Freehold Township Freehold, NJ 23-1-1*
Season Complete. New Jersey Group 4 co-state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,050 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: For the second time in three years, Freehold Township settled on a scoreless tie in a state final, this time with Ridge. Keeper Alessia LaRosa proved key in the result, turning away ever Ridge chance. Freehold and Group 2 champion Wall split their meetings this season, marking the lone losses on each team's record.

Loveland Loveland, OH 22-1-0*
Season Complete. Ohio Division I state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,432 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Xavier commit Brooke Harden scored from distance early in the match and goal stood up as Loveland edged Perrysburg 1-0 in the state final. The result sparked a Cincinnati sweep of state titles as teams from the Queen City won the Division I, II and III crowns. Loveland finished the season with 18 shutouts, including a pair of 1-0 wins over FAB 50-ranked teams.
10 Wachusett Holden, MA 19-0-4*
Season Complete. Massachusetts Division I state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,100 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Monica Pallotta scored both goals as Wachusett closed out an undefeated season with a 2-1 win over Westford Academy in the state final. Both goals were headers, and both came from assists by Monica's younger sister, Trish. Wachusett ended up being a bit of a surprise state champion in a year loaded with highly talented Massachusetts Division 1 programs.
11 (11) Guerin Catholic Noblesville, IN 16-2-1*
Season Complete. Indiana Class 3A state runner-up.
School Facts: Private, 750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Marian commit Claire Gavin kept Guerin Catholic in the match with several key saves before Penn was able to net a pair of second-half goals in a 2-0 state final. Although Guerin Catholic has the enrollment of a 2A school, it asked -- and was granted -- permission to play in 3A with the traditional state powers. Guerin had a loss to Brebeuf, but twice beat Carmel -- the second time in PKs in the playoffs. Elle Vuotto led the team with 16 goals. Florida commit Cassidy Lindley and freshman standout Quincy McMahon each had 11.
12 (12) Carmel Carmel, IN 15-2-2*
Season Complete. Indiana Class 3A section runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 4,830 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Carmel's season ended with a shootout loss to Guerin Catholic in the section final. Both of the Greyhounds' losses this season were to Guerin, which included a 1-0 setback earlier in the year. The section final result leaves longtime coach Frank Dixon on 499 career victories. During the regular season, Carmel had key wins over Toledo Notre Dame Academy (Ohio) and Noblesville and the Greyhounds tied Penn. During the postseason, Carmel pinned a 3-0 defeat on previously undefeated Brebeuf Jesuit. Junior Ashley Witucki, a Purdue commit, had two goals and one assist, sophomore Kelsie James, a Valparaiso commit, had a goal and senior standout Katie Soderstrom, a Butler commit, had two assists.
13 (13) La Cueva Albuquerque, NM 20-1-0*
Season Complete. New Mexico Class 6A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,850 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Junior Hannah Rivera scored in overtime to lift La Cueva to its 16th state title in the 32-year history of the program. La Cueva, the state runners-up the past two seasons, finished with a season-ending 17-match win streak.

Issaquah Issaquah, WA 20-2-0*
Season Complete. Washington Class 4A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,100 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Catey Nelson and Washington commit Mariah Van Halm scored two minutes apart in the first half to lift Issaquah to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Central Valley in the state final. The result sends coach Tom Bunnell into retirement with a fifth state title in 14 seasons and caps a career with a 220-40-16 record. On the run to the state title, Issaquah pinned the only loss on Puyallup, defeated defending state champ Camas and then ended Central Valley's perfect season.

Baldwinsville Baldwinsville, NY 19-2-0*
Season Complete. New York Class AA state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,450 students, grades 10-12.
NOTES: Katherine Pascale and freshman standout Hannah Mimas scored the goals as Baldwinsville defeated Massapequa 2-0 in the state final, giving the program its first title since 2002. Massapequa was making its fourth state final appearance in five seasons, which included winning three in a row from 2013-2015.
16 (16) Monroe-Woodbury Central Valley, NY 17-3-1*
Season Complete. New York Class AA state semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 2,275 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Monroe-Woodbury allowed two goals early in the match and never recovered in a 3-2 state semifinal loss to Baldwinsville. Kiki Goodwin and Kayla MacKenzie scored second-half goals to close the gap, and a late-match head glanced off the crossbar that could have tied the match.
17 (17) Arlington LaGrangeville, NY 20-1-0*
Season Complete. New York Class AA regional runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 3,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Arlington's bid for back-to-back state titles ended with a 2-1 loss to Monroe-Woodbury, a team it had defeated earlier in the season. After falling behind 1-0, Sofia Germano tied the match with less than 13 minutes remaining. Monroe-Woodbury scored the winner with just under five minutes left. This year's team was led by Notre Dame commit Molly Feighan and goalkeeper Becky Gold, who had 17 shutouts.
18 (18) Brebeuf Jesuit Indianapolis, IN 18-1-1*
Season Complete. Indiana Class 3A section semifinalist.
School Facts: Private, 800 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Brebeuf Jesuit's bid for a third straight state final ended in a playoff loss to Carmel, the team's only setback of the season. Brebeuf handed Guerin Catholic its only defeat. The Braves played to a tie with FAB 50-ranked Noblesville, and defeated Kentucky power Sacred Heart. Arizona commit Hallie Pearson led the team in goals and assists. Saint Louis commit Brianna Arthur was second in goals.
19 (19) Indian Hill Cincinnati, OH 22-0-1*
Season Complete. Ohio Division II state champion.
School Facts: Public, 626 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Arkansas commit Anna Podojil and Morgan Jackson scored the goals as Indian Hill completed an undefeated season with a 2-0 win over Lake Catholic in the state final. Podojil, who ended with 38 goals, was named Division II Player of the Year by the state coaches association. Jackson finished the season with 34 goals.

Summit Country Day Cincinnati, OH 22-1-0*
Season Complete. Ohio Division III state champion.
School Facts: Private, 850 students, grades K-12.
NOTES: Louisville commit Ravin Alexander had two goals and two assists and Tennessee commit Colleen McIlvenna had two goals and one assist as Summit Country Day rolled to a 4-0 win over Kirtland in the state final. Summit Country Day's only setback was a 3-2 decision to Indian Hill.

Season Complete. New Jersey Prep A state champion.
School Facts: Private, 510 students, grades 6-12.
NOTES: Freshman standout Kylie Daigle scored all three goals as Pennington School defeated Hun School 3-0 in the state final. Sophomore Ellie Hawkey assisted two of the goals. The victory marked Pennington's 13th Prep A title, and No. 14 would not be a stretch next year as most of the starting lineup returns from a team whose only lose was in overtime to Pennsbury (Pa.).

Season Complete. Utah Class 6A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,180 students, grades 10-12.
NOTES: Sisters Jamie and Josie Shepherd and Addi Holmstead scored second-half goals as American Fork rallied to defeat Syracuse 3-1 for the school's first girls soccer state title.

Season Complete. Ohio Division I region runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 1,750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Springboro's season ended with a 1-0 overtime loss to eventual state champion Loveland. During the regular season, Springboro defeated eventual state runner-up Perrysburg 3-1 and shut out Bearden and Farragut from Tennessee. Ohio University commit Olivia Page was named to the Ohio coaches all-state first team.

Season Complete. Massachusetts Division I state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 1,650 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Westford Academy's stellar postseason run ended with a 2-1 loss to undefeated Wachusett in the state final. Katherine Pawlak scored the team's lone goal. Westford Academy had wins over Newton South, FAB 50-ranked Central Catholic and King Philip. Despite its private-sounding name, Westford Academy is a public school -- one of the oldest in the nation as it opened in 1793.

Perrysburg Perrysburg, OH 17-3-3*
Season Complete. Ohio Division I state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 1,750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: After four straight playoff shutouts, Perrysburg found itself on the other side of a shutout in a 1-0 state final loss to Loveland. In the postseason, Perrysburg posted its second win of the season over FAB 50-ranked Strongsville and dealt a 1-0 setback to Massillon Jackson which took out perennial state and national power Walsh Jesuit. Miami (Ohio) commit Kristina Demarco was named to the coaches all-state first team.
