Rank School Record
1 Penn Mishawaka, IN 0-0-0
Last year's SIMA FAB 50 No. 2 team seems primed for a run at No. 1 this year. Penn returns players who scored a combined 101 goals last season. The Kingsmen are led by returning All-America performer and Florida State commit Kristina Lynch. The team also features Notre Dame commit Brooke VanDyck, Xavier commit Molly McLaughlin and Northwestern commit Mackenzie Wood. Overall, Penn coach Jeff Hart expects 10 NCAA Division I signees on this year's roster.
2 Davis Kaysville, UT 0-0-0
Davis has four TeamSnap Utah State Stars returning from last year's undefeated, SIMA FAB 50 national title-winning team. The projected key returners include TeamSnap All-America selection and BYU commit Olivia Wade, Utah Valley commit Hailee Atwater and Loyola Marymount commit Kendyl Baker.
3 Brebeuf Jesuit Indianapolis, IN 0-0-0
Four of Brebeuf Jesuit's top five scorers are projected to return from a 22-2-1 state runner-up team. Arizona commit Hallie Pearson led the team in goals last season. Saint Louis commit Brianna Arthur and Dayton commit Alexa Holl are expected to return, as well.
4 Central Catholic Lawrence, MA 0-0-0
As long as Providence commit Elayna Grillakis and Boston University commit Ashley Raphael return, Central Catholic -- coming off a 22-0 season -- will remain a power in Massachusetts.
5 Arlington LaGrangeville, NY 0-0-0
Arlington was a surprise state champion last year, but won't sneak up on anyone this season. The team is expected to return four TeamSnap New York State Stars, led by Notre Dame commit Molly Feighan.
6 Walsh Jesuit Cuyahoga Falls, OH 0-0-0
Walsh Jesuit is a perennial powerhouse, and despite the graduation of TeamSnap All-America Sophia Rossi, the Warriors might be stronger in 2017. Rossi was one of the few seniors in the lineup last year as the Warriors went 22-1 and won a fourth straight state title. Campbell commit Abby Major, Halle Rodgers and Isabella Rosalina might emerge as Walsh Jesuit's top players.
7 Whitman-Hanson Whitman, MA 0-0-0
Whitman-Hanson has been a FAB 50 fixture for much of the past decade -- going back to the Mewis era. If UMass commit Lauren Bonavita, Boston University commit Taylor Kofton and New Hampshire commit Samantha Smith return, this team should challenge Cathedral Catholic for the state No. 1 ranking.
8 Medina Medina, OH 0-0-0
Led by Michigan commit Janiece Joyner and Northern Kentucky commit Lilly Mensen, Medina again should be in the running for the Division I state title.
9 Seattle Prep Seattle, WA 0-0-0
National recruit Sophie Hirst leads a powerhouse Seattle Prep program, which is coming off a 22-1 showing in 2016. Other players who could suit up for Settle Prep this fall include Harvard commit Taylor Nielsen and Elizabeth Franklin.
10 Norwin Irwin, PA 0-0-0
Rutgers commit Emily Harrigan was the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Player of the Year last year, and could lead a strong Norwin squad this fall. Already, the GDA has effectively taken a few of the Mid-Penn and Eastern Pa. powers out of the state title conversation, leaving it wide open for another strong Pittsburgh showing in November. In addition to Harrigan, GK and Ohio University commit Samantha Wexell should be back.
11 Wall Township Wall, NJ 0-0-0
Princeton commit Amy Paternoster highlights the returnees for Wall, which went 24-1-1 last season. Four of the team's five NJ.com All-Group 3 selections are back for another title run.
12 Hunterdon Central Flemington, NJ 0-0-0
Although Hunterdon Central graduated the state's player of the year, this defending state champ returns a pair of all-state honorees in a bid for a rare Group 4 repeat.
13 Northern Highlands Allendale, NJ 0-0-0
Although Northern Highlands lost seven players from last year's 21-1-1 team, Tara Madigan has made an art form out of reloading -- not rebuilding. Of course, many of the blue chip recruits have now worked their way through the program, but still the four underclassmen in last year's starting lineup all made the NJ.com All-Group 3 player honors.
14 Glastonbury Glastonbury, CT 0-0-0
At 60 straight wins, Glastonbury owns the nation's longest active win streak. Expect the Tomahawks, winners of three straight state titles, to continue to roll as the favorite in Connecticut.
15 Portland Jesuit Portland, OR 0-0-0
California commit Sydney Collins and Gonzaga commit Sophia Braun highlight the likely lineup for Portland Jesuit, a perennial state title challenger in Oregon.
16 Arbor View Las Vegas, NV 0-0-0
Deja Erickson, Hannah Ferrara and Allyssa Larkin return after receiving all-state honors last year for a 19-1-2, state title-winning Arbor View team.
17 Skyline Sammamish, WA 0-0-0
Southern Cal commit Anna Smith was a TeamSnap All-America selection and should be returning after a 15 shutout season last year.
18 Sacred Heart Academy Louisville, KY 0-0-0
Louisville commit Cassie Amshoff made a big splash on the high school scene at the Lady Eagle Invitational, and this scoring standout is the main reason Sacred Heart is a favorite over Assumption in Kentucky, a state largely dominated by the private school programs.
19 Brunswick Brunswick, OH 0-0-0
Ohio State commit Arielle Pitty returns for a Blue Devils team that featured a lot of underclassmen en route to a 16-4-1 season.
20 Houston Germantown, TN 0-0-0
Although a senior-heavy Clarksville team won the state title last year, Germantown Houston returns to its usual spot as preseason favorite in Tennessee.
21 Strongsville Strongsville, OH 0-0-0
Strongsville has the potential to be a state title contender, but now will have to do so without one of its projected stars, who is lost for the season due to an ACL injury.
22 McDonogh School Owings Mills, MD 0-0-0
McDonogh was dislodged from its state No. 1 position by league rival Archbishop Spalding last year, ending a three-year run as state No. 1. The Eagles should be solid this season, especially if North Carolina commit Julia Dorsey is back.
23 Colts Neck Colts Neck, NJ 0-0-0
Although Penn State signee Frankie Tagliaferri graduated following a storied high school career, Colts Neck has the pieces in place to keep on rolling. Monmouth commit Lauren Feaster and Columbia commit Kayla Lee are back.
24 Sacred Heart Yonkers, NY 0-0-0
A youthful Sacred Heart team won the New York Catholic state title last fall, and enters 2017 as a slight favorite to repeat over league rival St. Anthony's.
25 Toledo Notre Dame Toledo, OH 0-0-0
Toledo Notre Dame had a breakthrough season in 2016, and with the core of its defense projected to return, this is a team loaded with potential. D Lexa Bauer and GK Abby Snyder anchor the back with standout junior Ashley Barron leading the attack.
