FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The fall season includes the following states: Connecticut, D.C., Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi (independent schools) Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia (private), Washington, West Virginia.

The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

Portland Jesuit Portland, OR 4-0-0
Portland Jesuit made quite a statement with a 6-1 thrashing of former Top 10-ranked Camas (Wash.). Minnesota commit Katelyn Duong had two goals and one assist. The Crusaders held a strong offensive-minded Camas team in check, despite not having Notre Dame commit Mary Votava in goal -- as she was sidelined by injury.

Northern Highlands Allendale, NJ 3-0-0
Northern Highlands, like Portland Jesuit, posted a marquee out-of-state win last week, toppling then No. 1 Houston 1-0 at the Rivals Tournament. Katie Murray scored the deciding goal.

McDonogh School Owings Mills, MD 3-0-0
Kemper Robinson and Aria Bilal scored the goals, both assisted by Tennessee commit Lilly McCarthy, as McDonogh edged Episcopal Academy (Pa.) 2-1 in a match halted after 46 minutes due to storms in the area. McDonogh has opened the season with three wins over state-ranked teams from three states.

St. John's face Wootton on Sept. 11 to kick off regular season play.

Walsh Jesuit Cuyahoga Falls, OH 6-0-0
Walsh Jesuit rolled to wins over Archbishop Hoban and North Royalton by a combined 11-0 margin. The Warriors clash with Medina this week in a battle of Top 25 teams.

Puyallup Puyallup, WA 3-0-0
Puyallup defeated Lake Stevens and Mead last week to move higher in the FAB 50 as the top-ranked Washington program.

Peters Township McMurray, PA 4-0-0
Peters Township capped a two-win week with a 2-0 victory over always-strong Upper St. Clair. The Indians have an upcoming clash with last year's Class 3A state champ Moon next week.

St. Anthony's defeated a pair of traditional New York public school region frontrunners, Williamsville North and Shenendehowa, at the Hall of Fame Cup over the weekend.

Kelli McGroarty had three goals and two assists and Rutgers commit Riley Tiernan had three goals and one assist last week as Eastern opened the season with wins over Paul VI and Lenape.

Houston's win streak ended at 33 with a 1-0 loss to Northern Highlands (N.J.) at the Rivals Tournament.

Pennsbury posted wins over Council Rock North and Unionville last week.

Rutgers commit Emma Pascarella had three goals and one assist and Alex Searing had three assists in Allentown's 8-1 season-opening win over Hightstown.

Central Valley defeated Ferris 2-0 last week. This program has gone undefeated or had only one loss in the regular season in three of the past five seasons.

While several New Jersey teams eased into the season, Bridgewater-Raritan played three matches in five days and delivered three shutout wins. The 3-0 non-league victory over Hopewell Valley was probably the most impressive as Hopewell Valley has been a state-ranked team in recent years.

St. Joseph routed Norwalk 6-0 to start the season. In fact, the preseason TopDrawerSoccer Top 3 teams in Connecticut all won their openers by at least five goals.

Despite significant graduation, defending state champ Loveland hasn't missed a beat -- winning its past five matches all by shutout. Loveland has won 28 of its last 29 matches.

Pickerington North edged Canal Winchester 2-1 last week. A clash with Mason was postponed due to weather.

Glastonbury handled Avon 7-1 in the team's season opener. This year Glastonbury and St. Joseph, a pair of Connecticut powers, are in the same classification, which could mean a postseason clash of powers.
