FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State was playing for its first regular season conference title since 2007, and only the third in program history, at Utah State Sunday afternoon. The women's soccer team tied the conference leader (0-0) after two overtimes for its ninth shutout of the year.

"We played really well and fought really hard," said Head Coach Brian Zwaschka. "In the end, I was really proud of the team."

The Bulldogs are 1-0-5 in matches that go into extra minutes this season and improve to a 10-4-5 record on the year.

Junior Callie Hancock broke the program single-season record for most shots on goal (36) and led the attack with six shots, three on goal in the match.

Freshman Katie DeVault finished with three saves in her seventh career shutout. She currently sits fifth all-time on the career shutouts list.

Fresno State outshot the Aggies 19-11, 6-3 on goal while committed few fouls (9-4).

With key losses in the conference this weekend, the tie against the Aggies clinched second place for Fresno State in the Western Athletic Conference tournament this weekend in Fresno.

"We're really pleased that we played well enough overall to secure second place," added Zwaschka. "We're looking forward to getting home to our own beds and then on to the tournament and showing what we're capable of."

The Bulldogs return home next for the WAC Tournament as the team hosts the post season event for the second time in program history. The Bulldogs are 16-12-2 at the WAC tournament all-time and have only earned three first round byes before this season. The last time the 'Dogs had a first round bye (in 2008) they went on to defeat Utah State (2-1) in double overtime for the tournament title.

The 'Dogs are 3-1-1 when earning a first round bye. Zwaschka is 2-1-1 at the tournament with one championship (2010) since taking the helm of the program.
