Lamar women’s soccer falls to Air Force

<p>COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – <strong>Bailey Fontenot</strong> and <strong>Elizabeth Silas</strong> each made four saves in their collegiate debuts, but it wasn’t enough for the Lamar University women’s soccer team in a 3-0 loss at Air Force in the season opener for both teams on Friday.</p>
<p>Fontenot played the first half for Lamar, allowing two goals, while Silas allowed one goal in the second half. <strong>Lisa Topping</strong> had four shots to lead the Lamar offense.</p>
<p>Megan Dozier scored two goals for Air Force. Leah Bratt had the other goal for the Falcons. Kelly Stambaugh made four saves for Air Force as the Falcons spoiled the debut of Lamar coach <strong>Orlando Cervantes</strong>.</p>
<p>“We played much better in the second half. Once we settled down, we played well,” Cervantes said. “I was very proud of the way we came back. We just have to build off of the way we played in that half.”</p>
<p>Lamar returns to action at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the second game of a five-game road swing to open the season.</p>
