Moore named SLC Player of the Week
BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar senior midfielder Jennifer Moore was named the Southland Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the Cardinals’ 2-0 victory at McNeese State on Friday.
Moore scored the game-winning goal against the Cowgirls on a header off of a cross from Kristin Bos a little more than 12 minutes into the match. Moore was also strong on defense, helping hold McNeese State to just three shots on goal as Bailey Fontenot notched her third shutout of the season.
Moore is the first Lamar soccer player to earn Player of the Week honors this season.
The Cardinals (6-9-1 overall, 3-5-1 Southland) host Abilene Christian at 7 p.m. Friday and Incarnate Word at 1 p.m. Sunday in the final home games of the season. Lamar enters the weekend two points out of a Southland Conference Tournament berth with three games remaining.
