Tulsa Falls to Saint Louis, 1-0
The Tulsa men’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Saint Louis on Tuesday night at Hermann Stadium in St. Louis, Mo. TU fell to 2-3 on the season, while SLU moved to 2-2 overall.
“We were poor tonight,” Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. “We didn’t start the game well, our passing was poor and we just couldn’t extend any really good possession going forward until about the last 15 minutes of the first half. I thought we started to play a little better, we created a few chances, but then in the second half it was just sloppy. Saint Louis didn’t do anything to hurt us, but we weren’t helping ourselves. Give SLU credit, they countered and took their chance for their goal well. It was just one of those games where we didn’t perform like we are capable of doing. We have to move forward from here, learn from this and get better for Friday night.”
Leo Novaes scored the lone goal of the contest at the 49:00 mark off a combination from Stefan Stojanovic and Devin Boyce.
Tulsa had an 11-7 lead in shots, including a 4-3 edge in shots on goal, but Saint Louis had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Tyler LaCourse came in off the bench and had a team-best four shots, while Chase Bromstedt added two attempts and five others had one shot. Brady Moody logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up two saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Friday, September 20 against Incarnate Word. Game time is set for 8:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
