‘Roos Beat Mavs 2-1 for First Home Win
(Kansas City, Mo.) -Saturday, the UMKC women's soccer team (2-5-3) notched their first home win of the season by beating the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks (3-3-2), 2-1.
Sophomore forward Taylor Bare scored a game-high two goals to keep UMKC ahead throughout the game. Her first score came in the 36th minute, assisted by junior midfielder Randi Simmons.
In the second half, she scored again and sophomore midfielder Ashley Gann was credited with the assist. With tonight's performance, Bare extended her team-high goals for the year to five.
In the 79th minute, the Mavs made it interesting when sophomore defender Logen Watts scored to cut the 'Roos lead to one. However, UMKC held on to get the win.
Next Friday, the 'Roos will continue their current three-game home stand against IUPUI in their conference opener.
