Terriers #2 in NSCAA North Atlantic Region

October 1, 2013

Brooklyn Heights, New York---In the midst of a five game unbeaten streak, the St. Francis Brooklyn men's soccer team catapulted three spots to claim the #2 ranking in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I North Atlantic Regional Poll.  For the Terriers, it is the highest they have been ranked since 2011, when they were fourth on October 4th and October 11th.

“It is nice to be recognized by the coaches in the region,” commented head coach Tom Giovatto.  “While it’s been a great year so far, we have a lot of work to do as we gear up for the conference play.”

The Terriers ended the week with a 1-0-1 mark after playing Saint Joseph’s to a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes couldn’t decide a victor.  St. Francis Brooklyn closed out the week, edging Harvard University, 1-0, on header from senior defender Riccardo Milano.

Saint Francis University claimed the top spot this week. After St. Francis Brooklyn in the second spot, Loyola (MD) falls to #3 in the region after suffering a 2-1 home defeat against Holy Cross.  Rounding out the top-five is Rider University and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Fellow Northeast Conference member Robert Morris makes their first appearance on the poll, securing the number six spot as they ended the week 2-0, with a pair of home victories against Duquesne and Buffalo. Concluding the weekly poll is Siena in seventh, Canisius in eight and Fairfield University clinging to the ninth spot.

St. Francis Brooklyn wraps up their non-conference slate on Saturday as they travel to Newark, New Jersey to take on the NJIT Highlanders.
