SEE HERE FOR ALL OF OUR COMMITS

The rich just got a lot richer.

Some of the very best players of the 2012 girls’ crop have recently made their college commitment and ensured that a few national powerhouses will be restocked with talent in the next couple years.

Here are the recent announcements on the 2012 girls’ side:

Lindsey Horan (Colorado Rush) will be joining the Anson Dorrance factory at North Carolina. Horan is the No. 2 prospect on our Top 100 List and an absolute terror up top. She’s a U.S. National Team player with great experience who is heading to the most decorated program in the country. Obviously, she’ll be joined by a few other top notch recruits, including …

girls youth club soccer player brittany von rueden Brittany Von Rueden
Laura Liedle (San Diego Surf), who is also heading to North Carolina. Liedle is a tremendous defender, and the No. 3 prospect on the Top 100. She’s a regular on the U.S. National squad and has been on great teams for her entire club career – something that enticed her about joining the Tar Heels.

“I wanted to be a part of the legacy North Carolina has,” Liedle said. “The passion for women’s soccer at UNC is unlike any other college.”

Maya Theuer (San Diego Surf) is a teammate of Liedle’s, but the two stars will be on opposite sides of the coast in 2012 when Theuer joins Stanford. Another elite fullback, ranked No. 9, she has physical strength but also possesses the ability to organize her teammates.

“The style of play at Stanford is very fluid and possession oriented,” said Theuer, of what she liked about the program. “I look forward to hopefully winning a national championship in the future.”

Two other sought after prospects will join Theuer in Palo Alto, California:

Haley Washburn (San Juan SC) is heading to Stanford.

Sarah Cox (Slammers FC) is also heading to Stanford.

Brittany Von Rueden, (FC Milwaukee) will join the defending national champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish … of course, by 2012 they may not be defending champs anymore. Not that the possibility is deterring Von Rueden.

“It was the all around perfect fit for me,” she said. “The academics are outstanding, the soccer is amazing, the team is welcoming and the coach has the perfect style for my personal development as a player.”

Well, alright then.
