2013 star aims to build legacy with commit
July 7, 2011

Just as we were talking about future dynasties, more high profile 2013 prospects have shifted some power around with their major announcements.

In the case of PDA midfielder Madison Tiernan, she had her sights set on building a legacy rather than simply inheriting one. That’s why Tiernan has committed to Big East competitor Rutgers, a program she’s determined to help lead to the next level.

“I wanted an experience where I was going to help a program become something even bigger than it is now,” said Tiernan, who also considered Maryland and Wake Forest. “The coaching staff and current players were huge factors in my decision. They made my decision so easy, and I knew right away that Rutgers was where I wanted to be.”

Tiernan is the No. 36 ranked player in our Top 100, and is a goal-scorer and play-maker. She has played with the U.S. U15 National Team and also has some international experience. She has bright years ahead of her before even reaching college.

Meanwhile, South Carolina has moved up the future power ranking poll by securing the commit of U.S. Youth National Team standout Sophie Groff. The Dallas Texans’ striker was just in camp with the U.S. U18 team and has a lot to offer. She’s a fast attacking player who is also physical, and will only grow stronger in the coming years.

Groff, No. 50 in the Top 100 ranking, also strongly considered Tennessee but she will join fellow 2013 star Vanessa Kovar at South Carolina. Kovar is the No. 68 ranked Top 100 player and she also brings national team experience and will be a strong asset in the midfield.
